This document specifies the requirements for marking of industrial metallic valves. It defines the method of applying the markings, on the body, on a flange, on an identification plate or any other location.
When specified as a normative reference in a valve product or performance standard, this document is considered in conjunction with the specified requirements of that valve product or performance standard.
The marking requirements for plastic valves are not within the scope of this document.

Le présent document spécifie les prescriptions pour le marquage sur les appareils métalliques de robinetterie industrielle. Il définit la manière de réaliser le marquage sur le corps, sur une bride, sur une plaque d'identification, ou tout autre emplacement.
Lorsqu’il est spécifié comme référence normative dans une norme de produit d’appareil de robinetterie ou une norme d’aptitude à l’emploi d’appareil de robinetterie, le présent document doit être pris en compte conjointement avec les prescriptions spécifiques de cette norme de produit d’appareil de robinetterie ou de cette norme d'aptitude à l'emploi d’appareil de robinetterie.
Les prescriptions concernant le marquage des appareils de robinetterie en plastique ne font pas partie du domaine d'application du présent document.

Ta evropski standard določa zahteve za označevanje industrijskih kovinskih ventilov. Določa metode za uporabo označb na ohišju, prirobnici, označevalni tablici ali na katerem koli drugem mestu.
Kadar je ta evropski standard v standardu za izdelek ali lastnosti ventila naveden v okviru zvez z drugimi standardi, ga je treba upoštevati skupaj z določenimi zahtevami standarda za ta izdelek ali lastnosti ventila.
Področje uporabe tega evropskega standarda ne zajema zahtev za označevanje za plastične ventile.

This document (EN 19:2023) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 69 “Industrial valves”,
the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2024, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by May 2024.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 19:2016.
In comparison with the previous edition, the following technical modifications have been made:

1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements for marking and labelling of industrial metallic valves. It also
specifies the method of applying respective markings on a valve.
This document is to be read together with the marking and labelling provisions stipulated in a valve
product standard.
The requirements for markings on valves made from plastic materials are not within the scope of this
document.

3 Terms and definitions

4 General marking and labelling requirements
4.1 General
4.1.1 Every industrial metallic valve shall be provided with integral markings, firmly attached marking
plate and identification plate, as applicable.
The corresponding requirements, regarding marking and labelling outlined in the European legislation
for pressure equipment shall be observed.
For industrial metallic valves that do not meet the requirements of the European legislation for pressure
equipment or are exempt from compliance, any subject related provisions in applicable valve product
standard shall be taken into account.
4.1.2 Mandatory markings are independent of language. When it is necessary to include descriptive
words so as to properly specify any supplement
