This part of EN 658 specifies the conditions for the determination of the interlaminar shear strength matrix composite materials with continuous fibre reinforcement at ambient temperature, by loading a notched specimen in compression. The method applies to unidirectionally and bidirectionally reinforced ceramic matrix composites, as well as to tridirectional composites with weak reinforcement in the third direction.

In diesem Teil von prEN 658 sind die Bedingungen zu Bestimmung der interlaminaren Scherfestigkeit von endlosfaserverstärkten Verbundwerkstoffen mit keramischer Matrix bei Raumtemperatur durch Druckbelastung von gekerbten Proben festgelegt. Dieses Verfahren ist für endlosfaserverstärkte keramische Verbundwerkstoffe mit unidirektionaler, bidirektionaler und bei tridirektionaler Faserverstärkung mit schwacher Verstärkung in der dritten Richtung anzuwenden.

La présente partie de l'EN 658 décrit une méthode de détermination de la résistance au cisaillement interlaminaire des matériaux composites à matrice céramique à renforts continus, à la température ambiante par soumission d'une éprouvette entaillée à un essai de compression. Cette méthode s'applique à tous les composites à matrice céramique à renforts fibreux unidirectionnels (1D), bidirectionnels (2D), et tridirectionnels (xD, où 2 < x < 3) conformément à l'ENV 13233.
Deux autres méthodes de détermination de la résistance au cisaillement interlaminaire sont données dans les autres parties de l'EN 658.
NOTE 1 Les caractéristiques de cisaillement interlaminaire peuvent varier d'une manière significative selon la préparation et les dimensions de l'éprouvette, la vitesse d'application de la force, l'état de surface, etc.
NOTE 2 Les résultats d'essai obtenus par l'intermédiaire de la présente partie de l'EN 658 ne sont pas comparables aux essais obtenus par les deux autres méthodes.
NOTE 3 L'interprétation des résultats obtenus par l'intermédiaire des méthodes d'essai proposées doit être faite avec précaution si l'on veut obtenir des valeurs absolues de la résistance au cisaillement laminaires des composites à matrice céramique à des fins de conception.

This document supersedes ENV 658-4:1992.
