This document specifies requirements for the qualification of operators of laser metal powder bed fusion machines and equipment for additive manufacturing, except for aerospace applications. This document defines general criteria for the qualification of machine operators, the activities and procedures regardless the process used in the part production.

Dieses Dokument bestimmt die Fähigkeiten und Verantwortlichkeiten, die für die Qualifizierung der AM-Bediener auf dem Gebiet der Additiven Fertigungstechnologien erforderlich sind, die sich mit der Herstellung von Metallteilen befassen, insbesondere für den Einsatz von pulverbettbasiertem Schmelzen mittels Laserstrahl mit Metallen (PBF-LB/M).
Dieses Dokument bestimmt Kriterien für die theoretische und praktische Beurteilung von Personal, das PBF-LB/M-Maschinen bedient. Die für den PBF-LB/M-Bediener vorgesehenen Tätigkeiten und Verfahren sind ebenfalls Bestandteil dieses Dokuments.
Dieses Dokument ist als Gliederung für die Qualifizierung von AM-Maschinenbedienern in allgemeinen industriellen Anwendungen konzipiert. Gibt es branchenspezifische Anforderungen für die Qualifikation von AM-Bedienern, wie z. B. ISO/ASTM 52942 für Anwendungen in der Luft- und Raumfahrt, so werden diese branchenspezifischen Normen anstelle dieses Dokuments angewendet.
