Earth-moving machinery - Safety - Part 8: Requirements for graders

This European Standard specifies additional requirements to and/or exceptions from EN 474-1:1994 "Earth-moving machinery - Safety - Part 1: General requirements".  This European Standard applies to graders defined in 3.2, and gives additional requirements for derived machinery.  This European Standard deals with all significant hazards pertinent to graders when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see annex A of this European Standard and annex C of EN 474-1:1994). This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards.  When graders are intended for use in winter service, see prEN ........ 1) "Winter service machines - Safety requirements".

Erdbaumaschinen - Sicherheit - Teil 8: Anforderungen für Grader

Diese Europäische Norm legt zusätzliche Anforderungen und/oder Abweichungen von EN 474-1: 1994 "Erdbaumaschinen - Sicherheit - Teil 1: Allgemeine Anfor- derungen" fest. Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Grader, wie sie in 3.2 defi- niert sind, und beinhaltet zusätzliche Anforderungen für artverwandte Maschi- nen. Diese Europäische Norm behandelt alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, die auf Grader zutreffen, wenn sie bestimmungsgemäß und entsprechend den Emp- fehlungen des Herstellers verwendet werden (siehe Anhang A dieser Europäischen Norm und Anhang C von EN 474-1: 1994).

La présente norme européenne spécifie des exigences complémentaires et/ou des exceptions à l'EN 474-1: 1994 "Engins de terrassement - Sécurité - Partie 1: "Exigences générales". La présente norme européenne s'applique aux niveleuses telles que définies dans 3.2, et fournit des exigences complémentaires pour les accessoires et pour les machines dérivées. This document specifies general principles for the development and evaluation of the machine performance level achieved (MPLa) of safety-control systems (SCS) using components powered by all energy sources (e.g. electronic, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical) used in earth-moving machinery and its equipment, as defined in ISO 6165.
The principles of this document apply to machine control systems (MCS) that control machine motion or mitigate a hazard; such systems are assessed for machine performance level required (MPLr) per ISO 19014-1 or ISO/TS 19014-5.
Excluded from the scope of this document are the following systems:
—    awareness systems that do not impact machine motion (e.g. cameras and radar detectors);
—    fire suppression systems, unless the activation of the system interferes with, or activates, another SCS.
Other systems or components whereby the operator would be aware of failure (e.g. windscreen wipers, head lights, etc.), or are primarily used to protect property, are excluded from this document. Audible warnings are excluded from the requirements of diagnostic coverage.
In addition, this document addresses the significant hazards as defined in ISO 12100 mitigated by the hardware components within the SCS.
This document is not applicable to EMM manufactured before the date of its publication.
