ISO 20421-2:2017 specifies operational requirements for large transportable vacuum-insulated cryogenic vessels.
These operational requirements include putting into service, filling, withdrawal, transport within the location, storage, maintenance, periodic inspection and emergency procedures.
For the transport of these vessels by public road, rail, waterway, sea and air, additional requirements can apply; these are defined in specific regulations.

ISO 20421-2:2017 spécifie les exigences de fonctionnement relatives aux grands récipients cryogéniques transportables isolés sous vide.
Ces exigences de fonctionnement concernent la mise en service, le remplissage, le soutirage, le transport à l'intérieur du site, le stockage, la maintenance, les contrôles périodiques et les procédures d'urgence.
Pour le transport de ces récipients par route, rail, voie navigable, mer ou air, des exigences supplémentaires peuvent s'appliquer; celles-ci sont définies dans des réglementations spécifiques.

Ta evropski standard se uporablja za delovne zahteve za velike premične vakuumsko izolirane kriogene posode s prostornino, večjo od 1000 litrov. Na področje uporabe standarda spada zagon, polnjenje, odstranitev iz uporabe, transport znotraj lokacije, vzdrževanje, redni pregledi in postopki ravnanja v sili. Zahteve za obratovanje za uporabo teh posod na javnih cestah, železnici, na morju in v zraku niso zajete v tem standardu. Za transport teh posod po javni cesti, železnici, morju in zraku se uporabljajo druge zahteve, ki so določene v posebnih predpisih. Standard se uporablja za posode za kriogene tekočine, kot je določeno v dokumentu WI 004.

This document (EN ISO 20421-2:2017) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 220
“Cryogenic vessels” in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 268 “Cryogenic vessels and
specific hydrogen technologies applications” the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by August 2017, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by August 2017.
