Identification card systems - User Interface - Part 3: Key pads

This document covers the ergonomic layout and usability of keypads. The keypad consists of numeric, command and function keys and alphanumeric characters. On the basis that keypad layout impacts performance (keying speed, and errors), this document aims to:
-   enhance usability,
-   ensure ease of use through consistency,
-   increase customer confidence,
-   reduce customer error,
-   improve operating time,
-   ensure ergonomic data entry.
This document specifies the arrangement, the number and location of numeric, function and command keys, including placement of alphabetic characters on numeric keys. Design requirements and recommendations are also provided.
This document applies to all identification card systems with a numeric keypad for use by the public for stationary or non-stationary devices. This document also covers keypads on touch sensitive devices.

Le présent document traite de la présentation ergonomique et de la commodité d'utilisation des claviers. Le clavier comporte des touches numériques, de commande et de fonction, ainsi que des caractères alphanumériques. Partant du principe que la présentation du clavier a une incidence sur les performances (vitesse de frappe et erreurs), le présent document a pour but :
-   d'améliorer la commodité d'utilisation ;
-   d'assurer la facilité d'utilisation grâce à la cohérence de la présentation ;
-   d'augmenter l'assurance de l'utilisateur ;
-   de réduire les erreurs de l'utilisateur ;
-   de réduire le temps de fonctionnement ;
-   de garantir une saisie ergonomique des données.
Le présent document spécifie la disposition, le nombre et l'emplacement des touches numériques, des touches de fonction et des touches de commande, y compris l’emplacement des caractères alphabétiques sur les touches numériques. Des exigences et recommandations relatives à la conception sont également données.
Le présent document s’applique à tous les systèmes de cartes d’identification équipés d’un clavier numérique destinés au public pour les dispositifs fixes ou mobiles. Le présent document couvre également les claviers des dispositifs tactiles.
