Ta evropski standard določa pravila za ugotavljanje kakovosti žaganega lesa po videzu. Opisuje različne vrste grobo žaganega trdega lesa zmernega območja in lesa določene velikosti, za katerega predpisuje denominacije in definicije. Prav tako podaja pravila za sestavo in sprejemljivost serij. Ta standard podaja minimalne zahteve za klasifikacijo vsake vrste.
