To specify the method for determining the ability of metallic materials to undergo plastic deformation in bending. The standard is not applicable to certain materials and/or products, for example tubes in full selection or welded joints.

L'IEC 60371-3-1:2006 s'applique à divers types de matériaux rigides à base de clivures de mica ou de papier de mica utilisés pour réaliser des entrelames de collecteurs. Ces matériaux doivent être réalisés en mica muscovite ou en mica phlogopite à partir de clivures ou de papier de mica agglomérés à l'aide d'un agglomérant approprié. Ils sont fournis dans les formes suivantes:
- feuilles aux dimensions de pressage ou après rectification;
- bandes découpées dans ces feuilles;
- entrelames de collecteurs réalisés aux dimensions, formes et conditions de la commande de l'utilisateur. L'épaisseur normale de fabrication se situe entre 0,3 mm et 2 mm. Cette troisième édition de la CEI 60371-3-1 remplace la deuxième édition parue en 1984, dont elle constitue une révision technique. Les principales modifications par rapport à l'édition antérieure portent sur les numéros des articles pour correspondre à la numérotation des articles de la dernière édition de la CEI 60371-2:2004.

Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International
Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member
body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has
the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, govern-
mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to
the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by
the IS0 Council. They are approved in accordance with IS0 procedures requiring at
least 75 % approval by the member bodies voting.
International Standard IS0 7438 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 164,

It cancels and replaces IS0 Recommendations ISO/R 85-1959, ISO/R 874959,
ISO/R 398-1964 and ISO/R 9544969, of which it constitutes a technical revision.
