Safety of woodworking machines - Circular sawing machines - Part 3: Down cutting cross-cut saws and dual purpose down cutting cross-cut saws/circular saw benches

This European Standard sets out the requirements and/or measures to remove the hazards and limit the risk on down cutting cross-cut saws and dual purpose down cutting cross -cut saws/circular saw benches as defined in 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4, herein after referred to as ¿machines", designed to cut solid wood, chipboard, fibreboard, plywood and also these materials where they are covered with plastic edging and/or plastic/light alloy laminates.
This European Standard does not apply to :
- machines for cross cutting logs;
- hand held woodworking machines or any adaptation permitting their use in a different mode i.e. bench mounting;
- machines set up on a bench or a table similar to a bench, which are intended to carry out work in a stationary position, capable of being lifted by one person by hand.
This European Standard covers the significant hazards relevant to this machine as stated in clause 4.
For Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines this European Standard does not cover hazards related to Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC).
This European Standard is primarily directed at machines which are manufactured after the date of issue of this European Standard.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen und/oder Maßnahmen für die Beseitigung von Gefähr-dungen und zur Begrenzung der Risiken an den wie in 3.2, 3.3 und 3.4 definierten von oben schneidenden Kappsägemaschinen und kombinierten Kapp- und Tischkreissägemaschinen fest - im folgenden als "Maschinen" bezeichnet -, die konstruiert sind zum Schneiden von Massivholz, Spanplatten, Faserplatten oder Sperrholz, sowie diesen Werkstoffen, wenn sie mit Kunststoffkanten versehen und/oder kunststoff/aluminium-beschichtet sind.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für :
- Maschinen zum Kappen von Rundholz;
- handgeführte Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen einschließlich solcher Einrichtungen, die ihre Verwendung in einer anderen Weise z.B. in einer Stationäreinrichtung ermöglichen;
- Maschinen, die auf ein Gestell oder auf einen Tisch, der einem Gestell ähnlich ist, aufgesetzt sind und die vorgesehen sind, während des Betriebs stationär verwendet zu werden und die von Hand von einer Person angehoben werden können.
Diese Europäische Norm behandelt die von der Maschine ausgehenden signifikanten Gefährdungen, wie sie in 4 aufgelistet sind.
Diese Europäische Norm behandelt bei CNC-Maschinen nicht die Gefährdungen im Zusammenhang mit der elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit (EMV).
Diese Europäische Norm ist in erster Linie auf Maschinen anzuwenden, die nach dem Datum der Herausgabe dieser Europäischen Norm hergestellt werden.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les prescriptions et/ou les mesures qui doivent être prises pour éliminer les phénomènes dangereux et/ou limiter les risques sur les tronçonneuses à coupe descendante et les tronçonneuses mixtes à coupe descendante et scie à table comme défini en 3.2, 3.3 et 3.4, ci-après désignées 'machines', conçues pour la coupe de bois massif, de panneaux de particules, et de fibres, de contre-plaqué, ainsi que ces matériaux lorsque leurs surfaces ou leurs chants sont recouverts de matière plastique et/ou de plastique/alliage léger stratifié.
La présente Norme européenne ne s'applique pas aux :
- machines conçues pour le tronçonnage de grumes;
- machines à bois portatives ou toute adaptation permettant leur utilisation de manière différente, c'est-à-dire fixées sur un établi;
- machines installée sur un établi ou une table similaire à un établi, destinées à exécuter des travaux dans une position fixe, pouvant être soulevées à la main par une personne.
La présente Norme européenne couvre les phénomènes dangereux signicatifs applicables à ces machines dont une liste est donnée à l'article 4.
Pour les machines à commande numérique la présente norme européenne ne traite pas des phénomènes dangereux liés à la Compatibilité électromagnétique (CEM).
La présente norme européenne est applicable avant tout aux machines fabriquées après la date de publication de la présente norme européenne.

Thecircuits shall be either “hardwired”, or if electronic components are used in safety related control systems “welltried” is fulfilled if they are in accordance with9.4.2.2 of EN 60204-1:1992 (i.e. redundancy with cross-monitoring) or 9.4.2.3 (i.e. diversity);c) mechanical components if, for example they operate in the positive mode in accordance with thedescription given in 3.5 of EN 292-2:1991/A1:1995;d) mechanically actuated position detectors for guards if they are actuated in the positive mode and theirarrangement/fastening and cam design/mounting comply with the requirements of
5.2 and 5.3 of EN1088:1995;e) interlocking devices with guard locking if they have, as a minimum, unconditional unlocking in accordancewith the requirements of Table 1 and Annex N of EN 1088:1995;f) pneumatic components and systems if they comply with the requirements of EN 983:1996;g) two-hand controls if they are as minimum type IIIB in accordance with the requirements of EN 574:1996;h) pressure sensitive mats if they are as minimum in accordance with type 2 of EN 1760-1:1997 and if theyare tested together with their associated control circuits at least at each starting of the machine;i) active opto-electronic protective devices if they comply as minimum with type 2 of prEN 61496-2 and if theyare tested together with
