Identification card systems - Man-machine interface - Part 3: Keypads

This European Standard covers the ergonomic layout and usability of keypads. The keypad may consist of numeric, command, function and alphanumeric keys. On the basis that keypad layout impacts performance (keying speed and errors), this European Standard aims to:
- enhance usability;
- ensure ease of use through consistency;
- increase customer confidence;
- reduce customer error;
- improve operating time;
- ensure ergonomic data entry.
This European Standard specifies the arrangement, the number and location of numeric, function and command keys, including placement of alphabetic characters on numeric keys. Design recommendations are also provided.
This standard applies to all identification card systems equipped with a numeric keypad for use by the public. Personal card reading devices, such as mobile phones, are outside the scope of this standard.
This standard does not cover virtual numeric keypad on screens for PIN entry.

Diese Europäische Norm behandelt die ergonomische Gestaltung und die Brauchbarkeit von Tastenfeldern. Das Tastenfeld kann aus numerischen Tasten, Befehlstasten, Funktionstasten und alphanumerischen Tasten bestehen. Da sich die Gestaltung des Tastenfelds auf die Leistung (Eingabegeschwindigkeit, Fehler) auswirkt, verfolgt diese Europäische Norm folgende Ziele:
   Verbesserung der Brauchbarkeit;
   Sicherstellung einer einfachen Benutzung durch konsistente Verwendung;
   Erhöhung des Vertrauens der Benutzer;
   Verringerung von Benutzerfehlern;
   Erhöhung der Nutzungszeit;
   Sicherstellung einer ergonomischen Dateneingabe.
Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anordnung, die Anzahl und die Lage von numerischen Tasten, Funktions¬tasten und Befehlstasten sowie die Anordnung der alphanumerischen Zeichen auf numerischen Tasten fest. Außerdem sind Empfehlungen zur Gestaltung enthalten.
Diese Norm gilt für alle Identifikationskartensysteme mit einem numerischen Tastenfeld, die der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich sind. Persönliche Kartenlesegeräte, zum Beispiel Mobiltelefone, fallen nicht in den Anwendungs¬bereich dieser Norm.
Virtuelle numerische Tastenfelder auf Bildschirmen zur PIN Eingabe sind in dieser Norm nicht behandelt.

LLa présente Norme européenne traite de la présentation ergonomique et de la commodité d'utilisation des
claviers. Le clavier peut comporter des touches numériques, alphanumériques, ainsi que des touches de
commande et de fonction. Partant du principe que la disposition du clavier a un effet sur les performances
(vitesse de frappe et erreurs), la présente Norme européenne a pour but :
⎯ d'améliorer la commodité d'utilisation ;
⎯ d'assurer la facilité d'utilisation grâce à la cohérence de la présentation ;
⎯ d'augmenter l'assurance de l'utilisateur ;
⎯ de réduire ses erreurs ;
⎯ de réduire le temps de fonctionnement ;
⎯ de garantir une saisie ergonomique des données.
La présente Norme européenne spécifie la disposition, le nombre et l'emplacement des touches numériques
ainsi que des touches de fonction et de commande, y compris l’emplacement des caractères alphabétiques
sur les touches numériques. Des recommandations relatives à la conception sont également données.
La présente norme s’applique à tous les systèmes de cartes d’identification équipés d’un clavier numérique
destiné au public. Les dispositifs de lecture de carte personnels, comme les téléphones mobiles, n’entrent pas
dans le Domaine d’application de la présente norme.
La présente norme ne traite pas du clavier numérique virtuel des écrans pour l’entrée d’un PIN.
