The article discusses EN IEC 62087-7:2019, which is a standard that specifies methods for measuring the power consumption of computer monitors. The scope of the standard includes various types of monitors, such as those with CRT, LCD, PDP, or OLED technologies, including touch screen functionality. However, it only applies to monitors powered from a main power source, not battery-powered monitors. Monitors connected by digital or analogue inputs are considered, but network- and wirelessly connected monitors are not covered. The standard defines a computer monitor as a display device without a TV tuner, intended for displaying video signals from a computer. Test procedures for measuring power consumption using static patterns, dynamic video, and web-based video are specified. The standard can be applied to monitors of any size, but excludes specialized monitors used in medical equipment, publishing, and other professional or industrial applications. The document also defines the relevant modes of operation for measuring power consumption, keeping in mind that the measuring conditions represent normal use of the equipment and may differ from specific safety standards.
