Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components - Basic test and measurement procedures - Part 2-37: Tests - Cable bending for fibre optic closures

This part of IEC 61300, when required by the relevant specification, evaluates the effectiveness of the sealing and clamping hardware of a fibre optic closure that functions to protect, secure and store passive fibre optic components (splices, connectors, branching devices) when the cable entering or exiting fibre optic closure is subjected to bending.

Cette partie de la CEI 61300, lorsque cela est exigé par la spécification applicable, évalue l'efficacité du dispositif d'étanchéité et de fixation d'un boîtier à fibres optiques assurant la protection, la sécurisation et la conservation des composants passifs à fibres optiques (épissures, connecteurs, dispositifs de couplage) lorsqu'un câble entrant ou sortant du boîtier de fibres optiques est soumis à un effort de flexion.

Foreword
The text of document 86B/2366/FDIS, future edition 2 of IEC 61300-2-37, prepared by SC 86B, Fibre
optic interconnecting devices and passive components, of IEC TC 86, Fibre optics, was submitted to the
IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN 61300-2-37 on 2006-11-01.
This European Standard supersedes EN 61300-2-37:1997.
Specific technical changes from EN 61300-2-37:1997 include tests on functions of the closure to protect,
secure and store passive fibre optic components (splices, connectors, branching devices) when the cable
entering or exiting fibre optic closure is subjected to bending.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2007-08-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2009-11-01
Annex ZA has been added by CENELEC.
