This Part 3-10 of EN 50289 details the method of test to determine the ability of a finished cable used in analogue and digital communication systems to withstand mechanical twisting and torsion. The primary purpose of the torsion test is to measure any variation in optical power transmittance of a fibre or electrical performance of a copper cable when the cable is subjected to torsional and twisting forces external to the cable jacket. A secondary purpose is to evaluate the possibility of physical damage that may occur as a result of such stresses. The primary purpose of the twisting test is to determine the change of RL and NEXT caused when the cable assembly is subjected either to bending or twisting. It is to be read in conjunction with EN 50289-3-1, which contains essential provisions for its application.

Dieser Teil 3-10 der EN 50289 beschreibt das Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen mechanische Torsion und Verdrillung von Kabeln, die in analogen und digitalen Kommunikationssystemen eingesetzt werden. Der Hauptzweck der Torsionsprüfung ist die Messung von Änderungen der optischen Übertragung eines Lichtwellenleiters oder der elektrischen Eigenschaften bei Kupferkabeln, wenn sie Torsions- und Verdrillungs-kräften außerhalb des Kabelmantels ausgesetzt sind. In zweiter Linie dient dieses Prüfverfahren der Ermit¬tlung möglicher physikalischer Schäden als Ergebnis derartiger Beanspruchungen. Das Verdrillungsprüfverfahren betrifft hauptsächlich der Ermittlung von Änderungen der Reflexionen und des Nahnebensprechens von konfektionierten Kabeln, die sowohl Biegungen als auch Verdrehungen ausgesetzt sind. Er ist zusammen mit EN 50289-3-1 anzuwenden, wo grundlegende Festlegungen zur Anwendung dieser Norm getroffen sind.

La présente Partie 3-10 de l’EN 50289 décrit la méthode d’essai pour déterminer l’aptitude d’un câble utilisé dans les systèmes de communication analogique et numérique à résister au torsadage et à la torsion. Le premier objectif de l’essai de torsion est de mesurer toute variation dans la transmittance optique d’une fibre ou des performances électriques d’un câble en cuivre lorsque ce câble est soumis à des forces de torsion et de torsadage appliqués par l’intermédiaire de sa gaine. Un second objectif est d’évaluer la possibilité de dommage physique qui pourrait se produire suite à de telles contraintes. Le premier objectif de l’essai de torsadage est de déterminer la variation de l’affaiblissement de réflexion et de la paradiaphonie lorsque un cordon équipés est soumis soit au pliage soit au torsadage. Elle est à lire conjointement avec l’EN 50289 3 1, qui contient des dispositions essentielles pour ces applications.
