This amendment has been prepared by IEC technical committee 61: Safety of household and

similar electrical appliances.

The text of this amendment is based on the following documents:

Full information on the voting for the approval of this amendment can be found in the report
on voting indicated in the above table.
The committee has decided that the contents of this amendment and the base publication will
remain unchanged until the maintenance result date indicated on the IEC web site under
"http://webstore.iec.ch" in the data related to the specific publication. At this date, the
publication will be
• reconfirmed,
• withdrawn,
• replaced by a revised edition, or
• amended.
A bilingual version of this amendment may be issued at a later date.

INTRODUCTION
Replace the second sentence of the second paragraph by the following:
It also covers abnormal situations that can be expected in practice and takes into account the
way in which electromagnetic phenomena can affect the safe operation of appliances.
5 General conditions for the tests
5.2 Add the following as a first sentence to Note 102:
The test of 21.102 is carried out on a separate appliance.

7 Marking and instructions
7.12 Add the following dashed items:
– the iron must be used and rested on a stable surface;
– when placing the iron on its stand, ensure that the surface on which the stand is placed is
stable;
– the iron is not to be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage or if it
is leaking.

11 Heating
11.8 Replace the text of the modification by the following:

Except for supply cords connected to separate containers, the temperature rise limit for the

insulation of wiring and supply cords is increased from 50 K to 60 K.

21 Mechanical strength
Replace the addition by the following:

Compliance is also checked by the tests of 21.101 and 21.102.

INTRODUCTION
Remplacer la deuxième phrase du deuxième alinéa par ce qui suit:
Elle couvre également les situations anormales auxquelles on peut s'attendre dans la pratique
et prend en considération les phénomènes électromagnétiques qui peuvent affecter le
fonctionnement en toute sécurité des appareils.
5 Conditions générales pour les essais
5.2 Ajouter la phrase suivante en première phrase à la Note 102:
L'essai de 21.102 est effectué sur un appareil séparé.
7 Marquage et instructions
7.12 Ajouter les tirets suivants:
– le fer à repasser doit être utilisé et reposé sur une surface stable;
– lorsque le fer est remis sur son repose-fer, s’assurer que la surface qui supporte le
repose-fer est stable;
– le fer à repasser ne doit pas être utilisé s'il a subi une chute, s'il y a des signes visibles de
dommages ou s'il fuit.
