BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 256, Section Checking of V-Belts, was drawn up by Technical
Committee ISO/TC 41, Pulleys and Belts, (Including V-Belts), the Secretariat of which is held
by the Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee, began in 1951 and led in 1959 to the
adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
On May 1960, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 376) was circulated to all the IS0
Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved by the following Member Bodies:

Chile Greece Spain
Colombia India Sweden
Czechoslovakia Israel Switzerland
Denmark Japan United Kingdom
Finland
Netherlands U.S.A.
U.S.S.R.
Three Member Bodies opposed the approval of the Draft:

The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0
Council, which decided, in March 1962, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 256, Contrôle de la section des courroies trapézoïdales, a été
élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 41, Poulies et courroies (y compris les courroies tra-
pézoïdales), dont le Secrétariat est assuré par l’Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question furent entrepris par le Comité Technique dès 1951 et
aboutirent en 1959 à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En mai 1960, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 376) fut soumis à l’enquête de tous
les Comités Membres de YISO. I1 fut approuvé par les Comités Membres suivants:

Le Projet de Recommandation IS0 fut alors soumis par correspondance au Conseil de
PISO qui décida, en mars 1962, de l’accepter comme RECOMMANDATION ISO.
