This document specifies three methods for the measurement of total belt thickness and the thickness of covers of steel cord conveyor belts. Methods A1 and A2 (micrometer methods) can be used for all steel cord conveyor belts for the measurement of both total belt thickness and cover thickness. Method B (optical method) is intended for the measurement of cover thickness only. It is not suitable if there is a textile or metal weft, nor if the ends of the steel cords become twisted when cut.

ISO 20238:2018 specifies a method of testing to determine the propensity of a conveyor belt to generate heat flame or glow when held stationary, under a given tension, in surface contact around a rotating driven steel drum. ISO 20238:2018 describes means of varying the conveyor belt tension. NOTE For conveyor belts containing steel reinforcement, it may not be possible to conduct this test in full due to the inability of the conveyor belt to comply with the requirements of 7.2. In this case, premature termination according to 7.3 can be necessary.

ISO 17396:2017 specifies the principal characteristics of synchronous endless and open belts and pulleys of the profile systems T and AT for use in synchronous belt drives for mechanical power transmission and where positive indexing or synchronization can be required. NOTE Synchronous belt drives have been known by various titles in the past: for example, timing belt drives, positive belt drives, gear belt drives. The principal belt and pulley characteristics include a) nominal belt tooth dimensions, b) belt tooth pitch spacing, c) belt length and width dimensions, d) belt length measurement specifications, e) pulley groove dimensions and tolerances, f) pulley diameter and width dimensions and tolerances, and g) pulley quality specification. The belts of the profile systems T and AT are made of polyurethane with high-tension fine steel cord tension members in most cases. As far as certain forces are given in this document, these values are only valid for these kinds of belt. For polyurethane belts with different tensile cords, i.e. aramid or rubber belts reinforced with glass fibre, the values can be different. It is intended that the user and the manufacturer agree about suitable values. Open belts made of thermoplastic polyurethane can be spliced to work as endless belts in conveyor applications. In this case, the tolerances are not valid for the splicing area of the endless spliced belt.

ISO 9563:2015 specifies the maximum and minimum electrical resistance of antistatic endless and open ended synchronous belts. This International Standard provides guidelines to allow testing of synchronous belts to prove their static conductive (dissipative) properties as well as a corresponding production control test method. The application of this International Standard is limited to new belts intended to be used in an explosive atmosphere or in situations where there is a fire risk. The test is intended to ensure that the belt is sufficiently conductive to dissipate charges of electricity which may form on it in service. In the case of a production control test, the decision is left to national standards or agreement between interested parties as to whether the test shall be carried out on each belt in a batch or on only a percentage of belts in a batch. For each proof test, the belt manufacturer shall determine which type of electrode and conductive coating material shall be used.
