BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 382, Gymnastic Equipment. Balancing Beam, was drawn
up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 83, Gymnastics and Sports Equipment, the Secretariat
of which is held by the Deutscher Normenausschuss (DNA).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1956 and led, in 1961,
to the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In December 1961, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 490) was circulated to all
the IS0 Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of
an editorial nature, by the following Member Bodies :
India Spain
Austria
Japan Switzerland
Bulgaria
Denmark Netherlands Turkey
France New Zealand United Kingdom
Germany Pakistan U.S.S.R.
Greece Poland
No Member Body opposed the approval of the Draft.
The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0
Council, which decided, in December 1964, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDA-
TION.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 382, Engins de gymnastique. Poutre, a été élaborée par le
Comité Technique ISO/TC 83, Engins de gymnastique et de sport, dont le Secrétariat est
assuré par le Deutscher Normenausschuss (DNA).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question furent entrepris par le Comité Technique en 1956
et aboutirent en 1961 à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En décembre 1961, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (No 490) fut soumis à l’enquête
de tous les Comités Membres de 1’ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifi-
cations d’ordre rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :

Autriche Inde Royaume-Uni
Bulgarie Japon Suisse
Danemark Nouvelle-Zélande Turquie
Espagne Pakistan U.R.S.S.
France Pays-Bas
Aucun Comité Membre ne se déclara opposé à l’approbation du Projet.
Le Projet de Recommandation IS0 fut alors soumis par correspondance au Conseil
de ITSO qui décida, en décembre 1964, de l’accepter comme RECOMMANDA-
TION ISO.
