FOREWORD
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation
of national standards institutes (IS0 Member Bodies). The work of developing
International Standards is carried out through IS0 Technical Committees. Every
Member Body interested in a subject for which a Technical Committee has been set
up has the right to be represented on that Committee. International organizations,
governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the Technical Committees are circulated
to the Member Bodies for approval before their acceptance as International
Standards by the IS0 Council.
International Standard IS0 2731 was drawn up by Technical Committee
lSO/TC 1 1 1, Round steel link chains, chain wheels, lifting hooks and accessories,
and circulated to the Member Bodies in March 1972.
It has been approved by the Member Bodies of the following countries :

O INTRODUCTION
In common with other items of lifting tackle, shackles are to be manufactured with lifting capacities in the R 10 series of
preferred numbers based on the module of 1 tonne (see IS0 3). Each lifting capacity is associated with given internal
dimensions (Table I), which are designated to accept other items with which it would be appropriate to use the shackle.
This International Standard is intended to be read in conjunction with IS0 2415, which gives definitions and specifies the
types of shackle pin, material, tolerances on dimensions, workmanship, finish, screw threads, marking and certification.

IS0 (Organisation Internationale de Normalisation) est une fédération mondiale
d’organismes nationaux de normalisation (Comités Membres ISO). L’élaboration de
Normes Internationales est confiée aux Comités Techniques ISO. Chaque Comité

O INTRODUCTION
Ainsi que les autres accessoires de levage, les manilles doivent être fabriquées pour des capacités portantes, choisies parmi la
série R 10 des nombres normaux (voir IS0 3), basées sur le module de 1 tonne. Chaque capacité portante est associée a des
dimensions intérieures données (Tableau 1) dans le but d’accepter d’autres accessoires avec lesquels il conviendrait d‘utiliser la
manille.
La Drésente Norme Internationale est destinée à être lue coniointement avec I’ISO 2415, qui donne les définitions et spécifie
les iypes d’axes, le matériau, les tolérances sur les dimensions, l’exécution, le fini, les filetages, le marquage et la certification.

1 OBJET ET DOMAINE D’APPLICATION
La présente Norme Internationale fixe les dimensions des manilles droites pour des capacités portantes allant de 1,0 a 80 t.
Toutes les autres spécifications relatives aux manilles droites sont indiquées dans I‘ISO 2415.
