Specifies requirements for the safety of high frequency surgical equipment used in medical practice. This third edition of EN 60601-2-2 cancels and replaces the second edition published in 1991, and constitutes a technical revision.

– lights connected to surgical instruments, such as luminous retractors;
– luminaires for emergency lighting, which are covered by IEC 60598-2-22.
