This document specifies additional specific safety requirements and test methods for Class E floating leisure articles for use on and in the water regardless whether the buoyancy is achieved by inflation or inherent buoyant material.
This document is applicable for Class E floating leisure articles as specified in ISO 25649-1:2024, Table 1.
Class E devices are inflatable boats of a buoyancy of less than 1 800 N with a hull length of more than 1,2 m and less than 2,5 m.
Class E devices are intended for use in bathing areas or in protected and safe shore zones.
NOTE 1        Typical products forming Class E (see Annex F):
—      inflatable boats for rowing or paddling of near oval shape with or without transom;
—      canoes and kayaks;
—      inflatable boats made from plastic sheets or from reinforced materials;
—      motor kit/sail kit as additional option.
NOTE 2        Typical applications of Class E devices:
—      moving from one place to another for pleasure purposes;
—      staying on the water for relaxing;
—      moving from shore to the main boat, transportation of persons and load (tender boat).

Dieses Dokument gilt für schwimmende Freizeitartikel für den Gebrauch auf und im Wasser der Klasse E nach ISO 25649-1:2021, unabhängig davon, ob der Auftrieb durch Aufblasen oder selbstschwimmende Materialien erzielt wird.
Dieses Dokument gilt im Zusammenhang mit ISO 25649-1:20xx und ISO 25649-2:20xx.
Klasse E Geräte sind für den Einsatz in Badegebieten oder in geschützten und sicheren Uferzonen vorgesehen.
ANMERKUNG 1 Typische Produkte der Klasse E (siehe Anhang F):
- aufblasbare Boote zum Rudern oder Paddeln in nahezu ovaler Form, mit oder ohne Heckspiegel;
- Kanus und Kajaks;
- aufblasbare Boote aus Kunststoffen oder aus verstärkten Werkstoffen;
- Motorausstattung/Segelausstattung als zusätzliche Wahlmöglichkeit.
ANMERKUNG 2 Typische Orte der Verwendung von Geräten der Klasse E:
- Fahrten von A nach B zum Vergnügen;
- Aufenthalt auf dem Wasser zur Entspannung;
- Fahrten vom Strand zum Hauptboot, Transport von Personen und Gepäck (Beiboot).

Le présent document spécifie des méthodes d’essai et des exigences de sécurité spécifiques supplémentaires pour les articles de loisirs flottants à utiliser sur ou dans l’eau de Classe E, que la flottabilité soit obtenue par gonflage ou par un matériau ayant une flottabilité propre.
Le présent document s’applique aux articles de loisirs flottants de Classe E spécifiés dans l’ISO 25649-1:2024, Tableau 1.
Les dispositifs de Classe E sont des bateaux gonflables d’une flottabilité inférieure à 1 800 N d’une longueur de coque de plus de 1,2 m et de moins de 2,5 m.
Les articles de Classe E sont destinés à être utilisés dans des zones de baignade ou dans des zones côtières protégées et sûres.
NOTE 1        Produits types constituant la Classe E (voir l’Annexe F) :
—      bateaux gonflables à rames ou à pagaies de forme presque ovale, avec ou sans tableau arrière ;
—      canoës et kayaks ;
—      bateaux gonflables fabriqués à l’aide de feuilles de matière plastique ou de matériaux renforcés ;
—      en option : bloc moteur/équipement de voilure.
NOTE 2        Applications types des dispositifs de Classe E :
—      aller d’un point A à un point B pour le plaisir ;
—      rester sur l’eau pour se relaxer ;
—      aller du rivage jusqu’au bateau principal, transport de personnes et de charges (bateau annexe).

This document (EN ISO 25649-7:2024) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 83 "Sports
and other recreational facilities and equipment" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC
136 “Sports, playground and other recreational facilities and equipment” the secretariat of which is held
by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2025, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by May 2025.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 25649-7:2017.

Relationship between this European Standard and the safety requirements
of Directive 2001/95/EC aimed to be covered
This European Standard has been prepared under a Commission’s standardization request Mandate
M/372 Floating leisure products for use on or in the water to provide one voluntary means of
conforming to the product safety requirements for floating leisure products for use on or in the water
pursuant to Directive 2001/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive
2001/95/EC, compliance with the normative clauses of this standard given in Table ZA.1 confers,
within the limits of the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding
safety requirements set in the Directive and specified in the request M/372 and associated EFTA
regulations.
