CEN/TC 459/SC 2/WG 2 - Routine methods for the analysis of steel by spark OES
To propose and validate routine methods for the analysis of steels and ferrous materials by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) and different optical emission spectrometry techniques (OES). The selection of the topics to be handled is based either on the result of enquiries launched by CEN/TC 459/SC 2 or on proposals made within this WG. This WG aims to prepare guidelines related with the XRF and OES techniques, too.

General Information
X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (XRF) has been used for several decades as an important analytical tool for production analysis. XRF is characterised by its speed and high precision over a wide concentration range and since the technique in most cases is used as an relative method the limitations are often connected to the quality of the calibration samples. The technique is well established and most of its physical properties are well known.
