This document specifies design for recycling guidelines for thermoplastics pipes and fittings, used as construction products or used for water supply to irrigation systems.
NOTE 1   Components used in irrigation systems such as flexibles and drip lines are not part of this document.
NOTE 2   Pipes and fittings used for cable management are not part of this document.
NOTE 3   Packaging of pipes and fittings is not part of this document.
The guidelines in this document are developed to facilitate mechanical recycling.
NOTE 4   The guidelines could also be beneficial for chemical recycling.
Thermoplastics pipes and fittings are considered to be those, where the total volume of the thermoplastic compound/formulation exceeds 50 %.
This document can also be used for other thermoplastics products used in a piping system such as manholes, inspection chambers, infiltration boxes and valves.

This document specifies the general terms and definitions relevant for the utilization of thermoplastics recyclates in thermoplastics pipes, fittings and ancillaries for both pressure and non-pressure piping systems.
This document is intended to be used by specification writers in conjunction with CEN/TS 14541-2 when preparing normative documents under the scope of CEN/TC 155.

This document provides guidance and information for drafting product standards to specify characteristics and test methods for the utilization of thermoplastics recyclates (PVC-U, PVC-C, PE, PP, ABS) in pipes, fittings and ancillaries for thermoplastics piping systems.
This document covers recyclates with an agreed specification from all sources.
NOTE 1   This document does not cover characteristics for reworked material.
NOTE 2   This document does not cover recycling processes (e.g. chemical or mechanical).
NOTE 3   This document does not define if recycled material can be used in a specific application. The possible use of recyclates will be defined in the applicable product standard.
This document provides guidance about the relevant characteristics to be included in the agreed specification for recyclates.
This document is applicable without prejudice to any existing legislation.
For the recycling process, the transport, the testing and the use of thermoplastics recyclates, National and/or European regulations (e.g. hygienic aspects) can apply.
NOTE 4   For example, threshold levels for substances of very high concern (SVHC) as defined in the REACH-legislation which can possibly be present in thermoplastic recyclates.

This Technical Specification specifies definitions and recommended characteristics and test methods for the utilisation of PVC U, PP and PE non-virgin materials in pipes, fittings and ancillaries for both pressure and non-pressure piping systems.
This Technical Specification specifies the conditions for utilisation of non-virgin material with and without agreed specification
Non-virgin materials may be reformulated by the use of additives and processing techniques to meet an agreed specification. Typically the additives used would be stabilisers and pigments etc.
The WG responsible for the product standard should consider the content of this document and only permit dosage levels which give compliance with the requirements of the product standard. Further, the WG should consider whether extra or more frequent product testing is relevant when using such material in the production of pipes and fittings in accordance with the relevant product standard.
NOTE    For the purpose of this specification the term pipes means extruded pipes, gutters and any parts of a fabricated fitting which is made from an extruded pipe. The term fitting means injection- and rotomoulded fittings and injection moulded parts of a fabricated fitting.
For the recycling process, the testing and the use of the non-virgin material National and/or European regulations may apply.

This document specifies definitions and recommended specifications and test methods for the utilisation of PVC U, PP and PE non-virgin materials in components for non-pressure piping systems.
This document specifies the use of material with agreed specifications in the event that large quantities are to be used.
This document gives information concerning the relationship between relevant characteristics and their influence on processing/performance on pipes and/or fittings.
NOTE 1   For the purpose of this specification, the term pipes refers to extruded pipes and any parts of a fabricated fitting which is made from an extruded pipe. The term fitting means injection moulded fittings and injection moulded parts of a fabricated fitting.
NOTE 2   The product standard should specify the requirements and permitted deviations of the characteristics specified in  Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3, as well as permitted dosage levels.
NOTE 3   The WG responsible for the product standard should consider those recommendations and only permit dosage levels which comply with the safety requirements of the product standard. Further, the WG should consider whether extra or more frequent product testing is relevant when using such material in the production of pipes and fittings in accordance with the relevant product standard.
NOTE 4   For the recycling process, for the testing and the use of the material National and/or European regulations may apply.
