IEC 60034-7:2020 specifies the IM Code, a classification of types of construction, mounting arrangements and the terminal box position of rotating electrical machines. Two systems of classification are provided as follows:
- Code I: An alpha-numeric designation applicable to machines with end-shield bearing(s) and only one shaft extension
- Code II: An all-numeric designation applicable to a wider range of types of machines including types covered by Code I.

IEC 60034-2-3:2020 specifies test methods and an interpolation procedure for determining losses and efficiencies of converter-fed motors within the scope of IEC 60034-1:2017. The motor is then part of a variable frequency power drive system (PDS) as defined in IEC 61800‑9‑2:2017.

IEC 60034-4-1:2018 applies to three-phase synchronous machines of 1 kVA rating and larger and describes methods intended to be used for machines having an excitation winding with slip-rings and brushes for their supply. Synchronous machines with brushless excitation require special effort for some of the tests. For machines with permanent magnet excitation, there is a limited applicability of the described tests, and special precautions should be taken against irreversible demagnetization.

IEC 60034-27-4:2018 provides recommended test procedures for the measurement of insulation resistance and polarization index of stator and rotor winding insulation of rotating electrical machines. This document recommends minimum acceptable values of insulation resistance and polarization index of winding insulation valid for fully processed low and high voltage AC and DC rotating electrical machines with a rated power of 750 W or higher.

IEC 60034-27-1:2017 provides a common basis for:
- measuring techniques and instruments;
- the arrangement of test circuits;
- normalization and testing procedures;
- noise reduction;
- the documentation of test results;
- the interpretation of test results,
with respect to partial discharge off-line measurements on the winding insulation of rotating electrical machines.

IEC TS 60034-30-2:2016(E) specifies efficiency classes for variable speed rotating electric machines not covered in IEC 60034-30-1. The classification only covers machines designed for operation with sinusoidal fundamental current that are not designed to be operated direct on-line (grid), for example permanent magnet synchronous machines with and without additional reluctance torque, sinusoidal reluctance synchronous machines and synchronous machines with DC field windings.
