IEC 61988-4-1:2015(E) defines the following test methods for evaluating the climatic and mechanical endurance characteristics of plasma display modules (PDP modules): temperature and humidity tests, air pressure tests and mechanical tests.

IEC 61988-2-6:2015(E) defines the measuring methods for gamma and colour gamut characteristics as a function of the APL for a PDP module (plasma display module). Generally, the luminance level of a PDP module is dependent on the APL (average picture level) of input images. Varying the input levels causes a change of the chromaticity of RGB primary colours. This standard also defines the measuring methods of tone characteristics and chromaticity characteristics with varying APLs. This standard is based on the assumption that the inverse-gamma circuit is inside the module.

IEC 61988-2-5:2012 determines the measuring methods for characterizing the performance of PDP modules (plasma display modules): Acoustic noise.

IEC 61988-4-2:2012 defines testing methods for evaluating mechanical characteristics of plasma display modules (PDP modules) in the following areas:
a) Ball drop breaking strength of panels;
b) Partial heating strength of panels.

IEC 61988-2-1:2012 determines the following measuring methods for characterizing the performance of plasma display modules (PDP modules):
a) four per cent (4 %) window luminance;
b) luminance uniformity;
c) dark-room contrast ratio;
d) bright-room contrast ratio 100/70;
e) white chromaticity and chromatic uniformity;
f) colour gamut in the centre box;
g) module power and current consumption;
h) module power consumption using video signal;
i) module luminous efficacy, and
j) panel luminous efficacy.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: The first edition of IEC 61988-2-1 and IEC 61988-2-2 were combined and reconstructed in this document.

IEC 61988-2-4:2011 determines the measuring methods for characterizing the performance of plasma display panel (PDP) modules in the following areas:
a) viewing angle;
b) image streaking;
c) flicker;
d) moving picture resolution.

IEC 61988-1:2011 gives the preferred terms, their definitions and symbols for colour AC plasma display panels (AC PDP); with the object of using the same terminology when publications are prepared in different countries. Guidance on the technology is provided in the annexes. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2003, and constitutes a technical revision. The main technical changes with regard to the previous edition are as follows: Additional terms were added in Clause 3.

IEC 61988-5:2009 is a generic specification for plasma display panels specifies general procedures for quality assessment to be used in the IECQ System and establishes general principles for describing and testing of electrical, optical, mechanical and environmental characteristics.

IEC 61988-3-2:2009 defines the electrical interface of digital video data signals, synchronization signals and functional signals between the image processing board of the PDP set and the control board of the PDP module, and defines the description of the pin assignment of the connectors.

IEC 61988-2-3:2009 determines the measuring methods for defects and degradation of colour plasma display (PDP) module in the following areas: a) cell defects; b) image sticking; c) luminance.

This part of IEC 61988 defines drawings and required dimensions of plasma display (PDP) modules, PDP components, PDP sub-assemblies and ancillary components. This standard serves as a basis to establish a set of PDP modules with a standard description of dimensions.
