Standard Specification for Nonferrous Bolts, Hex Cap Screws, and Studs for General Use

ABSTRACT
This specification covers the requirements for commercial wrought nonferrous bolts, hex cap screws, and studs manufactured from a number of alloys in common use and are intended for general service applications. The specimens shall be made of materials that conform to the chemical composition requirements for copper, nickel, aluminum, and titanium alloys that are to be determined by chemical analysis. Manufacturing of the specimens shall be by cold or hot forming or machining and stress relieving. Tension, hardness, and shear tests shall be performed to determine the mechanical properties of the specimen which shall be in compliance with the tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, hardness, and shear strength requirements.
SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
For purposes of determining compliance with the specified limits for requirements of the properties listed in this specification, an observed value or calculated value shall be rounded in accordance with Practice E29.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers the requirements for commercial wrought nonferrous bolts, hex cap screws, and studs 0.250 to 1.500 in. inclusive in diameter manufactured from a number of alloys in common use and intended for general service applications.
1.2 Applicable nuts for use with bolts, cap screws, and studs covered by this specification are covered by Specification F467.
Note 1—A complete metric companion to Specification F468 has been developedF468M; therefore no metric equivalents are presented in this specification.
