Standard Specification for Sample Preparation for Qualification Testing of Coatings to be Used in Nuclear Power Plants

ABSTRACT
This specification defines the size composition and surface preparation requirements for the preparation of test samples used for qualification testing of coatings utilized in nuclear power plant construction and maintenance. All panels should be carbon steel. Materials shall be tested for abrasion, and shall conform to specified requirements of steel samples, and concrete blocks.
SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
This specification provides uniform requirements for the preparation of test samples used for testing of coatings and linings to be used in nuclear power plants.
At the users discretion, this standard may also be used when preparing samples to be tested for the purpose of assessing performance attributes for coating and lining systems that may be applied in other types of power plants or for other industrial facilities.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification defines the size, composition, and surface preparation and coating application variables for preparing samples for evaluating coatings and linings over various substrates.
1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
