Standard Specification for Tachometers, Various

ABSTRACT
This specification covers various tachometers capable of measuring rotational shaft speed. Special requirements for tachometer types used in naval shipboard applications. The materials for all parts shall be selected for long-term compatibility with the environment in which the tachometer will be installed or used. Qualification testing and quality conformance testing shall be performed.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers various tachometers capable of measuring rotational shaft speed.
1.2 Special requirements for tachometer types used in naval shipboard applications are included in Supplement S1.
1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to inch-pound units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
