ABSTRACT
This specification covers round wire concentric-lay-stranded aluminium conductors, steel supported (ACSS) for use as ovehead electrical conductors. Tests for mechanical and electrical properties of aluminum wires shall be made after stranding. The electrical resistivity shall meet the minimum resistivity specified for the wire after stranding.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers round wire concentric-lay-stranded aluminum conductors, steel supported (ACSS) for use as overhead electrical conductors (see Explanatory Note 1).
1.2 The values stated in inch-pound or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification. For conductor sizes designated by AWG or kcmil sizes, the requirements in SI units are numerically converted from the corresponding requirements in inch-pound units. For conductor sizes designation by AWG or kcmil, the requirements in SI units have been numerically converted from corresponding values stated or derived in inch-pound units. For conductor sizes designated by SI units only, the requirements are stated or derived in SI units.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers round, aluminum-clad steel core wire used for mechanical reinforcement in the manufacture of aluminum conductors, aluminum-clad steel reinforced. The base metal shall be steel produced by the openhearth, electric-furnace, or basic-oxygen process and shall be of such composition that the finished clad wire shall have the properties and characteristics prescribed in this specification. The aluminum used for cladding shall have a purity and quantity sufficient to meet thickness and resistance requirements of this specification. The material shall conform to the required tensile properties such as stress, tensile strength, and elongation. The aluminum-clad steel core shall undergo elongation test, tension test, and torsion test. The elongation test shall be determined by an extensometer equipped with a vernier or other instrument reading. In the torsion test, a small tensile load shall be applied to the specimen during testing. The specimen shall be twisted by rotating one of the vises in the same direction until fracture occurs.

1.1 This specification covers round, aluminum-clad steel core wire with two designations of tensile strengths, AW2 (Normal Strength) and AW3 (High Strength).

ABSTRACT
This specification covers nickel-coated, round, copper-clad steel wire for electronic applications. The nickel-coated wire shall consist of the basis wire coated with nickel. Tensile strength and elongation of the nickel-coated wire shall conform to the specified requirements for the applicable size and class of copper-clad steel wire. The electrical resistivity shall not exceed the values specified. Continuity, adherence, and mass of the coating shall be determined. Necessary joints in the wire and rod prior to final coating and drawing shall be made.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers nickel-coated, round, copper-clad steel wire for electronic application.  
1.2 Nickel coatings in mass percentages of the total mass of the coated wire are as follows: 2 %, 4 %, 7 %, 10 %, and 27 %. Nickel-coated wire having different minimum mass percentages of nickel may be obtained by mutual agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser. For information purposes, the thickness of coating in microinches provided by the percentages listed above is shown in Table 1.

1.1 This specification covers round, high-strength, zinc-coated (galvanized), steel core wire with Class A zinc coating (GA3) for use in overhead electrical conductors.  
1.2 This specification covers wire of diameter from 0.0500 in. to 0.1900 in. inclusive or 1.27 mm to 4.82 mm inclusive.

For conductor sizes designated by SI units only, the requirements are stated or derived in SI units. For density, resistivity, and temperature, the values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.  
1.3 ACSS/TW is designed to increase the aluminum area for a given diameter of conductor by the use of trapezoidal shaped wires (TW), or to reduce the diameter for a given area of aluminum. The conductors consist of a central core of round steel wire(s) surrounded by two or more layers of trapezoidal aluminum 1350-0 wires. Different strandings of the same size of conductor are identified by type, which is the approximate ratio of steel area to aluminum area expressed in percent (see Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3). For the purpose of this specification, the sizes listed in Table 1 and Table 2 are tabulated on the basis of the finished conductor having an area or outside diameter equal to that of specified sizes of standard ACSR, ACSS, and ACSR/TW so as to facilitate conductor selection.
