Es beschreibt die Eigenschaften von Eisen(II)sulfat-Heptahydrat und Monohydrat und legt die Anforderungen sowie die entsprechenden Analysenverfahren fest. Es enthält Angaben für deren Anwendung in der Wasseraufbereitung. Es legt darüber hinaus Regeln für die sichere Handhabung (Anhang B) und Verwendung von Eisen(II)sulfat fest (Anhang A).
