Leather - Physical and mechanical tests - Determination of softness (ISO 17235:2002)
ISO 17235:2002 specifies a non-destructive method for determining the softness of a leather. It is applicable to all non-rigid leathers, e.g. shoe upper leather, upholstery leather, leathergoods leather and apparel leather.

L'ISO 17235:2002 spécifie une méthode non destructive pour déterminer la souplesse d'un cuir. Elle s'applique à tous les cuirs légers, par exemple cuirs à dessus de chaussure, cuirs de garniture, cuirs d'articles de maroquinerie, cuirs pour vêtements et gants.

This European Standard was approved by CEN on 8 June 2002.

Foreword
This document (EN ISO 17235:2002) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 289
"Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI, in collaboration with the International Union of
Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS).
It is based on Method IUP 36 of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists
Societies.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2003, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by June 2003.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg,
Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
