This document specifies a method, using glacial acetic acid, to determine the mass percentage of acetate, after removal of non-fibrous matter, in textiles made of mixtures of

It is also possible to analyse mixtures containing acetate by using the test methods described in ISO 1833-3 or ISO 1833-9.

EN ISO 1833-14:2019 specifies a quantitative chemical analysis method for determining the mass percentage of acetate in textile mixtures containing acetate and certain chlorofibres (including after-chlorinated chlorofibres). The method uses glacial acetic acid to dissolve acetate and follows the general principles given in ISO 1833-1. It applies after removal of non-fibrous matter and is intended for reliable composition determination to support quality control and regulatory compliance.
