This document describes a method for the determination of chromium in aqueous solution obtained from leather. This is an analysis for total chromium in leather; it is not compound specific or specific to its oxidation state.
This method describes the determination of chrome by iodometric titration and is to be applicable to chromium-tanned leathers which are expected to have chromic oxide contents in excess of 0,3 %. Two different methods are described as alternatives for obtaining chromium in a suitable solution. It is appropriate to use either method.

Dieses Dokument beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Chrom in einer aus Leder erhaltenen wässrigen Lösung. Im vorliegenden Fall handelt es sich um eine Analyse des Gesamtchromgehaltes in Leder, die nicht verbindungsspezifisch oder spezifisch für die Oxidationsstufe ist.
Dieses Verfahren beschreibt die Bestimmung von Chrom durch iodometrische Titration und ist vorgesehen für mit Chrom gegerbte Leder, bei denen Chromoxidgehalte von mehr als 0,3 % vermutet werden. Es werden zwei unterschiedliche Verfahren als Alternative zum Erhalt von Chrom in einer geeigneten Lösung beschrieben. Beide Verfahren sind für die Anwendung geeignet.

Le présent document décrit une méthode permettant de doser le chrome dans une solution aqueuse obtenue à partir de cuir. C'est une analyse du chrome total dans le cuir; elle est non spécifique du composé chromé ou de l'état d'oxydation du chrome.
La présente méthode indique comment doser le chrome par titrage iodométrique; elle doit être applicable aux cuirs tannés au chrome, susceptibles de contenir de l'oxyde de chrome dans des proportions supérieures à 0,3 %. Deux méthodes différentes sont décrites pour obtenir du chrome dans une solution appropriée. Ces deux méthodes peuvent être appliquées.

Ta dokument opisuje metodo za določevanje kroma v vodni raztopini, pridobljeni iz usnja. To je analiza skupne vsebnosti kroma v usnju, pri čemer ne obravnava določene spojine ali določenega oksidacijskega stanja kroma.
Ta metoda opisuje določevanje kroma z iodometrično titracijo in se uporablja za usnje, ustrojeno s kromom, za katerega se pričakuje, da vsebuje več kot 0,3-odstotni delež kromovega oksida. Opisani sta dve različni metodi kot alternativni možnosti za pridobivanje kroma v ustrezni raztopini. Primerna je uporaba katere koli metode.

This document (EN ISO 5398-1:2018) has been prepared by Technical Committee IULTCS
"International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies" in collaboration with Technical
Committee CEN/TC 289 “Leather” the secretariat of which is held by UNI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 2019, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by January 2019.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 5398-1:2007.
