Aluminium and aluminium alloys - Sheet, strip and plate - Part 4: Tolerances on shape and dimensions for cold-rolled products

This part of EN 485 specifies the tolerances on shape and dimensions for wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy sheets, strips and plates obtained by cold-rolling, for general engineering applications. It does not apply to semi-finished rolled products in coiled form to be subjected to further rolling (reroll stock) or to special products such as corrugated, embossed, painted, etc. sheets and strips or to special applications such as aerospace, can stock, etc. which are dealt with in separate European standards. Technical conditions for inspection and delivery of those products are specified in EN 485-1.

Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen - Bänder, Bleche und Platten - Teil 4: Grenzabmaße und Formtoleranzen für kaltgewalzte Erzeugnisse

Der vorliegende Teil der Norm EN 485 legt die zulässigen Formabweichungen und Masstoleranzen für kaltgewalzte Bänder, Bleche und Platten aus Aluminium und Aluminium-Knetlegierungen fest, die für allgemeine Verwendungßwecke bestimmt sind. Er gilt nicht für Vorwalzbänder, Spezialprodukte wie z.B. geprägte, gefärbte oder rollgeformte Bänder und Bleche, oder Produkte, die für Spezialanwendungen, wie beispielsweise Luft- und Raumfahrt, Getränkedosen, usw.  eingesetzt werden. Diese werden in gesonderten Europäischen Normen abgehandelt.

Aluminium et alliages d'aluminium - Tôles, bandes et tôles épaisses - Partie 4: Tolérances sur forme et dimensions des produits laminés à froid

La présente partie de la norme EN 485 spécifie les tolérances sur forme et dimensions des tôles, bandes et tôles épaisses en aluminium et alliages d'aluminium corroyés obtenues par laminage à froid, pour usages mécaniques généraux. Elle ne s'applique pas aux demi-produits laminés en bobines devant subir un second laminage (ébauche), aux produits spéciaux du type tôles et bandes ondulées, gaufrées, peintes, etc. ou aux produits pour applications spéciales telles que aéronautique et espace, boites de conserve, etc. qui sont traités dans des normes européennes séparées.

This document specifies tolerances on dimensions and form of extruded precision profiles in alloys EN AW-6060 and EN AW-6063, manufactured with and without a thermal barrier (see Figures 1 and 2). It applies to extruded products supplied without further surface treatment. Precision profiles covered in this document are distinguished from extruded profiles for general applications covered in EN 755-9 by the following characteristics:
- they are designed with mostly uniform wall-thicknesses;
- they are mainly used for mechanical engineering, architectural and automotive (except crash-elements) applications;
- their maximum weight per metre is 10 kg/m;
- their maximum wall thickness ratio (tmax/tmin) is 3,5.
In the case of profiles which, due to the complexity of their design, are difficult to manufacture and specify, then special agreements between supplier and purchaser may need to be reached.
NOTE The effect of the thermal barrier material on the dimensional tolerances is covered by this document although the actual thermal barrier material itself is not (see EN 14024).

This European Standard covers:
-   the products forms, grades and tempers of wrought and cast aluminium and aluminium alloys which may be used for such applications together with data for wrought and cast alloys over their permissible working temperature ranges;
-   the permissible alloys/ tempers covered by this are those given in Table A.1 and in B.1 for wrought alloys and in Table A.2 and in B.2 for castings;
-   the technical conditions for inspection and delivery, mechanical property limits and tolerances on form and dimensions by reference to the appropriate European standards for the relevant wrought and cast aluminium and aluminium alloys, and
-   additional requirements which are specific to pressure equipment applications.
It applies to hot-rolled plate, cold-rolled sheet/ strip/ circles, extruded or extruded and cold drawn rod/bar, tube, extruded open / hollow profiles, forgings and castings, by this standard are those given in Table A.1 for wrought alloys and in Table A.2 for castings.
It is the sole objective of this standard to cover materials only for pressure purposes and it excludes any elements of fabrication or fabrication methods for pressure equipment; such information can be found in the relevant standards listed in the "Bibliography" section.
