This Technical Specification specifies a template for reporting and communication of characteristics covering bio-based carbon content and recovery options (i.e. organic recycling, material recycling and energy recovery) of a given item in commercial business-to-business transactions by means of a specific data sheet for biopolymers and bioplastics. This Technical Specification also gives the relevant methods for the evaluation and verification of the claims.
This Technical Specification provides the principles and requirements for the communication of selected claims in the field of environmental performance and characteristics to be used with reference to items such as biopolymers, bioplastic materials, semi-finished bioplastic products and finished bioplastic products, including composites, before it is available to the end-user or consumer.
This Technical Specification is not intended for use in communicating biobased-content and recovery options in business to consumer communications
Biocompatible polymers and plastics for medical applications, covered by specific provisions, are out of the scope of this document.

Die vorliegende Technische Spezifikation legt eine Vorlage für die Angabe der Merkmale fest, die den Gehalt an biobasiertem Kohlenstoff und die Verwertungsmöglichkeiten (d. h. organisches Recycling, stoffliche und energetische Verwertung) umfassen, für ein bestimmtes Erzeugnis im Rahmen kommerzieller Business-to-Business-Geschäfte mittels eines spezifischen Datenblatts für Biopolymere und Biokunststoffe. Diese Technische Spezifikation führt ebenfalls die einschlägigen Verfahren für die Bewertung und Überprüfung der Aussagen auf.
Die vorliegende Technische Spezifikation führt Grundsätze für und Anforderungen an die Angabe ausgewählter Aussagen hinsichtlich der Umweltleistung und der Merkmale auf, die in Bezug auf Erzeugnisse anzugeben sind, wie z. B. Biopolymere, Biokunststoffmaterialien, Halbfertig und Fertigprodukte aus Biokunststoffen, einschließlich Verbundstoffe, bevor diese dem Endanwender oder Verbraucher zur Verfügung gestellt werden.
Die vorliegende Technische Spezifikation ist nicht zur Kommunikation des biobasierten Anteils und der Verwertungsmöglichkeiten zwischen Unternehmen und Verbraucher vorgesehen.
Biokompatible Polymere und Kunststoffe für medizinische Anwendungen, die durch besondere Bestimmun-gen abgedeckt sind, fallen nicht in den Anwendungsbereich dieses Dokuments.

La présente Spécification technique définit un modèle pour le rapport et la communication des caractéristiques couvrant la teneur en carbone biosourcé et les options de valorisation (à savoir le recyclage organique, le recyclage de la matière et la valorisation énergétique) d'un article donné dans les transactions commerciales d'entreprise à entreprise, via une fiche technique spécifique pour les biopolymères et les bioplastiques. La présente Spécification technique indique également les méthodes applicables pour l'évaluation et la vérification des déclarations.
La présente Spécification technique fournit les principes et les exigences afférant à la communication d'une sélection de déclarations dans le domaine des performances environnementales, et des caractéristiques à utiliser en référence aux articles tels que biopolymères, matériaux bioplastiques, produits bioplastiques semi-finis et produits bioplastiques finis, y compris les composites, avant la mise à disposition à l'utilisateur final ou au consommateur.
La présente Spécification technique n’est pas destinée à être utilisée pour communiquer la teneur en carbone biosourcé et les options de valorisation dans les transactions d’entreprise à consommateur.
Les plastiques et polymères biocompatibles pour les applications médicales, couverts par des dispositions spécifiques, ne relèvent pas du domaine d'application du présent document.

Ta tehnična specifikacija določa predlogo za poročanje in komuniciranje o deležu biološkega ogljika in možnostih obnavljanja (npr. organsko recikliranje, recikliranje materialov in energetska predelava) izbranega elementa pri komercialnih poslovnih transakcijah s seznamom podatkov o biopolimerih in biopolimernih materialih. Ta tehnična specifikacija podaja tudi ustrezne metode za vrednotenje in preverjanje trditev. This Technical Specification (CEN/TS) was approved by CEN on 16 July 2012 for provisional application.
The period of validity of this CEN/TS is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to submit their
comments, particularly on the question whether the CEN/TS can be converted into a European Standard.
CEN members are required to announce the existence of this CEN/TS in the same way as for an EN and to make the CEN/TS available
promptly at national level in an appropriate form. It is permissible to keep conflicting national standards in force (in parallel to the CEN/TS)
until the final decision about the possible conversion of the CEN/TS into an EN is reached.
