Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components - Basic test and measurement procedures - Part 3-1: Examinations and measurements - Visual examination

This part of EN 61300 provides criteria for the visual and mechanical examination of fibre optic piece parts, connectors and passive components. The examination method may be used at any stage of the qualification or quality conformance inspection process, as a stand-alone test, or as required by the relevant specification. Visual examination of the polished end-face is defined in IEC/PAS 61300-3-35 and does not form part of this document.

La présente partie de la EN 61300 fournit les critères pour l'examen visuel et mécanique des pièces élémentaires, des connecteurs et des composants passifs à fibre optique. La méthode d'examen peut être utilisée à tout stade du processus de qualification ou de contrôle de la qualité, en tant qu'essai isolé ou en réponse aux exigences de la spécification applicable. L'examen visuel de la face terminale polie est défini dans la CEI/PAS 61300-3-35 et ne fait pas partie du présent document.

Foreword
The text of document 86B/2172/FDIS, future edition 2 of IEC 61300-3-1, prepared by SC 86B, Fibre
optic interconnecting devices and passive components, of IEC TC 86, Fibre optics, was submitted to
the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN 61300-3-1 on 2005-10-01.
This European Standard supersedes EN 61300-3-1:1997.
It constitutes a technical revision on reference methods and equipments for particular parts of the
components.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2006-07-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2008-10-01
