Optical fibres - Part 2-40: Product specifications - Sectional specification for category A4 multimode fibres

IEC 60793-2-40:2009(E) is applicable to optical fibre categories A4a, A4b, A4c, A4d, A4e, A4f, A4g and A4h. These fibres have a plastic core and plastic cladding and may have step-index, multi-step index, or graded-index profiles. The fibres are used in information transmission equipment and optical fibre cables. This technical revision defines an enhanced A4a fibre named A4a.2 while the existing A4a fibre has been renamed A4a.1.

La CEI 60793-2-40:2009 s'applique aux catégories de fibres optiques A4a, A4b, A4c, A4d, A4e, A4f, A4g et A4h. Ces fibres possèdent un coeur et une gaine en plastique et elles peuvent avoir des profils de type saut d'indice, sauts multiples d'indice ou gradient d'indice. Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition publiée en 2006 et constitue une révision technique qui définit une fibre A4a améliorée désignée A4a.2 alors que la désignation de la fibre A4a existante a été renommée en A4a.1.

Ta del IEC 60793-2 velja za optična vlakna kategorij A4a, A4b, A4c, A4d, A4e, A4f, A4g in A4h. Ta optična vlakna imajo plastično sredico, plastični plašč in imajo lahko profile s stopničastim lomnim količnikom, večstopničastim lomnim količnikom in stopnjevalnim lomnim količnikom. Vlakna se uporabljajo pri opremi za prenos informacij in optičnih kablih. Preglednica 1 povzema nekatere pomembne značilnosti in uporabe teh vlaken.
Poleg načinov uporab, navedenih v preglednici 1, drugi načini uporabe vlaken A4 vključujejo, a niso omejeni na naslednje: podpora sistemom z visoko bitno hitrostjo kratkega dosega v telefoniji, distribuciji in lokalnih omrežjih, prenos podatkov, glasovne in/ali videostoritve in napeljave na mestu uporabe v stavbi in med stavbami, vključno z LAN, PBX, videom in različnimi multipleksnimi uporabami, ter razne povezane uporabe, kot so potrošniška elektronika in industrijska ter mobilna omrežja.
Za vlakna A4 veljajo tri vrste zahtev:
splošne zahteve, kot jih opredeljuje IEC 60793-2,
posebne zahteve, skupne za večrodovna vlakna kategorije A4, ki jih zajema ta standard
in so navedene v klavzuli 3,
posamezne zahteve, ki veljajo za posamezne vrste vlaken ali posebne uporabe in
jih ta standard opredeljuje v normativnih dodatkih za skupinsko specifikacijo.

The text of document 86A/1237/CDV, future edition 3 of IEC 60793-2-40, prepared by SC 86A, Fibres
and cables, of IEC TC 86, Fibre optics, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was
approved by CENELEC as EN 60793-2-40 on 2011-01-02.
This European Standard supersedes EN 60793-2-40:2006.
This EN 60793-2-40:2011 defines an enhanced A4a fibre named A4a.2 while the existing A4a fibre has
been renamed A4a.1.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
