Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national standards bodies (IS0 member badies). The work of developing International
Standards is carried out through IS0 technical committees. Every member body
interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been authorized has the
right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental
and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical Committees are circulated to
the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by
the IS0 Council.
International Standard IS0 2860 was developed by Technical Committee ISO/TC 127,
Earth-moving machinery, and was circulated to the member bodies in April 1982.
It has been approved by the member bodies of the following countries :

1 Scope and field of application 2.1 Hand access
This International Standard specifies the minimum access
openings on earth-moving machinery for
1) the hand,
2) the head,
3) the body,
4) arm reach,
5) two-handed reach.
It provides engineers and designers with information in order
e that access openings provided in equipment and machinery for
purposes of inspection, adjustment and maintenance are made
large enough for the intended function by the man in the field
or shop.

1 Objet et domaine d'application
La présente Norme internationale spécifie les ouvertures de
passage minimales sur les engins de terrassement, pour
A
1) la main,
2) la tête,
3) le corps,
4) le bras,
5) les deux mains tendues.
Elle fournit aux ingénieurs et projeteurs les données numé-
riques leur permettant d'établir des ouvertures de passage
nécessaires aux inspections, travaux de montage et répara-
tions, de dimensions suffisantes pour que ces opérations soient
réalisées par l'homme sur le terrain ou en atelier.
Les ouvertures de plus grandes dimensions, permettant l'accès
avec des vêtements arctiques, ont été étudiées pour des maté-
riels de génie civil
