This document provides terminology and general guidance on the principles of collision warning and collision avoidance systems for: — earth moving machinery as defined in ISO 6165, — mobile underground mining machinery as defined in ISO 19296, and — road construction machinery as defined in ISO 22242. This document provides general requirements for detection of objects, warnings to the operator, automatic intervention control to avoid collision, and test procedures. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the other parts of the ISO 21815 series, which provide detailed guidance and requirements for collision warning and collision avoidance systems and determining risk areas and risk levels. The specific requirements and definitions for particular types of machines are defined in the use case parts of the ISO 21815 series. This document covers collision avoidance by speed reduction or motion inhibit: it does not cover avoidance by automatic manoeuvring (e.g. steering) away from the intended object. The systems described in this document are only intended to assist the operator of the machine. The responsibility for safe operation of the machine remains with the operator of the machine. A Machine Control System Safety Analysis (MCSSA) determines the amount of risk reduction of hazards associated with control systems, required for Safety Control Systems (SCS). This reduction is quantified by the Machine Performance Level (MPL), the hazards are identified using the risk assessment principles as defined in ISO 12100 or by other means. NOTE 1 Step 2 as shown in Annex A demonstrates the relationship between ISO 12100 and ISO 19014 as a complementary protective measure. NOTE 2 ISO 19014 can also be used to assess the functional safety requirements of other off-road mobile machinery. For those controls determined to be safety-related, the characteristics for architecture, hardware, software environmental requirements and performance are covered by other parts in ISO 19014. ISO 532-1:2017 specifies two methods for estimating the loudness and loudness level of sounds as perceived by otologically normal persons under specific listening conditions. The first method is intended for stationary sounds and the second method for arbitrary non-stationary (time-varying) sounds, including stationary sounds as a special case. The methods can be applied to any sound recorded as single-channel measurements using a microphone, or as multi-channel measurements, for example by means of a head and torso simulator (see Annex D). Since most important technical sounds are time-varying, a model of time-varying loudness is preferable. The methods are based on the Zwicker algorithm.[14] The method for stationary sounds is provided for reasons of continuity and also offers the use of measured one-third-octave-band levels as input. The more general method for arbitrary sounds calculates the specific loudness pattern based on measured time signals by applying a signal processing model that is directly related to physiological and psychological characteristics of the human hearing system. Loudness is calculated from the specific loudness pattern. It has been shown that this method provides a good match to the results of many loudness experiments using synthetic and technical sounds. No prior knowledge about the properties of the sound (e.g. broadband or narrowband noise, tonal content) and no user interactions are required for the fully automated application of the method. The evaluation of the harmful effect of sound events is outside the scope of ISO 532-1:2017.

ISO 18564:2016 specifies all the information necessary for carrying out efficiently and under standardised conditions the noise emission values of self-propelled forestry machinery. It is applicable to fellers, bunchers, delimbers, forwarders, log loaders, skidders, processors, harvesters, mulchers and multi-function versions of these machine types, as defined in ISO 6814. Noise emission characteristics include A-weighted emission sound pressure values at the operator's station and the A-weighted sound power value. ISO 17989-1:2015 provides guidelines to assist designers and manufacturers of tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry to integrate sustainability principles, practices and considerations into their organizations and processes. This part of ISO 17989 is specifically applicable to equipment used in the production of food, fibres, fuel and lumber for humans and livestock. NOTE This part of ISO 17989 includes three different levels for the application: principles, recommendations and additional information (annexes). ISO 17989-1:2015 is addressed to the organization management and provides guidance for considering sustainability aspects relevant for the organization and the product life cycle. It defines the factory gate as the system boundary (Figure 1). ISO 17989-1:2015 is not applicable to contractual or regulatory purposes or to registration and certification. Except when they are closely related to sustainability, this part of ISO 17989 does not address issues of occupational health and safety or operator safety aspects of a machine's design. ISO 1680:2013 specifies all the information necessary to carry out efficiently and under standardized conditions the determination, declaration, and verification of the noise emission characteristics of rotating electrical machines. It specifies noise measurement methods that can be used, and specifies the operating and mounting conditions required for the test. Noise emission characteristics include the sound power level and emission sound pressure level. The determination of these quantities is necessary: to compare the noise emitted by machines; to enable manufacturers to declare the noise emitted; for noise control purposes. The use of ISO 1680:2013 as a noise test code ensures the reproducibility of the determination of the noise emission characteristics within specified limits determined by the grade of accuracy of the basic noise measurement method used. Noise measurement methods allowed by ISO 1680:2013 are precision methods (grade 1), engineering methods (grade 2) and survey methods (grade 3). Methods of engineering grade (grade 2) are preferred. ISO 1680:2013 is applicable to rotating electrical machines of any length, width or height.

ISO 10263-4:2009 specifies a uniform test method for measuring the contribution to operator environmental temperature provided by a heating, ventilating and air conditioning system operating in a specific ambient environment. The method might not determine the complete climatic environment of the operator since this is also affected by heat load from sources other than those on the machine, for example solar heating.
