This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 3520:1998), which has been technically
revised.
The main changes are as follows:
— the title has been changed;
— the structure has been revised;
— 3.1 has been reworded to update the botanical name to Citrus bergamia Risso et Poit and to add the
Calabrian type;
— in 4.1, minor changes to a) relative density (formerly 0,883 max); b) refractive index (formerly
1,470 max); c) optical rotation (formerly +32° max); d) residue on evaporation (formerly 6,40 %
max); and e) CD value (formerly 1,180 max) have been included;
— in 4.2, β–pinene % max has been reduced (formerly 9,5 %) and limonene % max has been increased
(formerly 45 %);
— in Annex A, the chromatograms in Figures A.1 and A.2 and the data have been updated.

Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition (ISO 3520:1998), qui a fait l’objet d’une
révision technique.
Les principales modifications sont les suivantes:
— le titre a été modifié;
— la structure a été révisée;
— le paragraphe 3.1 a été reformulé en mettant à jour le nom botanique Citrus bergamia Risso et Poit
et en ajoutant le type calabrais;
— en 4.1, des changements mineurs ont été effectués concernant a) la densité relative (auparavant
maximum de 0,883), b) l’indice de réfraction (auparavant maximum de 1,470), c) le pouvoir rotatoire
(auparavant maximum de +32°), d) le résidu d’évaporation (auparavant maximum de 6,40 %) et e) la
valeur CD (auparavant maximum de 1,180);
— en 4.2, le pourcentage maximal de β–pinène (auparavant de 9,5 %) a été réduit et celui du limonène
(auparavant de 45 %) a été augmenté;
— dans l’Annexe A, les chromatogrammes des Figures A.1 et A.2 et les données ont été mis à jour.

Le présent document a été élaboré par le comité technique ISO/TC 54, Huiles essentielles.
Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition (ISO 3520:1998), qui a fait l’objet d’une
révision technique.
Les principales modifications par rapport à l’édition précédente sont les suivantes:
— le titre a été modifié;
— la structure a été révisée;
— le paragraphe 3.1 a été reformulé en mettant à jour le nom botanique Citrus bergamia Risso & Poit
et en ajoutant le type calabrais;
— en 4.1, des changements mineurs ont été effectués concernant a) la densité relative (auparavant
maximum de 0,883), b) l’indice de réfraction (auparavant maximum de 1,470), c) le pouvoir rotatoire
(auparavant maximum de +32°), d) le résidu d’évaporation (auparavant maximum de 6,40 %) et e) la
valeur CD (auparavant maximum de 1,180);
— en 4.2, le pourcentage maximal de β–pinène (auparavant de 9,5 %) a été réduit et celui du limonène
(auparavant de 45 %) a été augmenté;
— dans l’Annexe A, les chromatogrammes des Figures A.1 et A.2 et les données ont été mis à jour.
