BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 210, Essential Oils. Packing, was drawn up by Technical
Committee ISO/TC 54, Essential Oils, the Secretariat of which is held by the Repartiçiio de
Normalizaçao (IGPAI).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1952 and led in 1953 to
the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
This first Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 54) was circulated to all the IS0 Member
Bodies for enquiry. As the results of this consultation were not considered satisfactory,
the Technical Committee successively put forward a second and a third Draft IS0 Recom-
mendation, which were circulated in October 1957 and August 1959 respectively.
This third Draft was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature,
by the following Member Bodies:

Germany New Zealand U.S.S.R.
Greece Pakistan Yugoslavia
India Poland
Israel Portugal
One Member Body opposed the approval of the Draft:
Belgium.
The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0
Council, which decided, in September 1961, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 210, Huiles essentielles. Emballage, a été élaborée par le
Comité Technique ISO/TC 54, Huiles essentielles, dont le Secrétariat est assuré par la Repar-
tiçao de Normalizaçao (IGPAI).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question furent entrepris par le Comité Technique dès 1952
et aboutirent en 1953 à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
Ce premier Projet de Recommandation IS0 (No 54) fut soumis à l’enquête de tous
les Comités Membres de 1’ISO. Les résultats de cette consultation n’ayant pas été jugés
satisfaisants, le Comité Technique présenta successivement un deuxième et un troisième Pro-
jets de Recommandation IS0 qui furent distribués respectivement en octobre 1957 et en août 1959.
Ce troisième Projet fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications d’ordre rédac-
tionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :

de I’ISO qui décida, en septembre 1961, de l’accepter comme RECOMMANDATION ISO.
