Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International
Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member
body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has
the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, govern-
mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to
the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by
the IS0 Council. They are approved in accordance with IS0 procedures requiring at
least 75 % approval by the member bodies voting.
International Standard IS0 4017 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 2,
Fasteners.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (IS0 4017 : 19791, to which
the following major alterations have been made:
the range of threads has been extended to be Ml,6 to M64;
a)
the range of nominal lengths has been extended up to 200 mm;
b)
non-preferred threads have been entered ;

d) in add ition to class 8.8, classes 5.6 and 10.9 have
ProPew property
entered ;
e) for stainless steel screws above M20 up to M39, property class A250 has been
specified.

0 Introduction
This International Standard is part of the complete IS0 product standard series on hexagon drive fasteners. The series comprises:
a) hexagon head bolts (IS0 4014, IS0 4015, IS0 4016 and IS0 8765);
b) hexagon head screws (IS0 4917, IS0 4618 and IS0 8676);
c) hexagon nuts (IS0 4632, IS0 4933, IS0 4634, IS0 4635, IS0 4636, IS0 8673, IS0 8674 and IS0 8675);
d) hexagon flanged bolts (IS0 4162 and IS0 8102);
e) hexagon flanged screws; I)
f) hexagon flanged nuts (IS0 4161, IS0 7643 and IS0 7644);
g) structural bolting (IS0 4775, IS0 7411 to IS0 7414 and IS0 7417).
1 Scope and field of application
This International Standard gives specifications for hexagon head screws with threads from MI ,6 up to and including M64, of product
grade A for threads Ml,6 to M24 and nominal lengths up to and including IOd or 150 mm, whichever is shorter, and product grade B
for threads over M24 or nominal lengths over IOd or 150 mm, whichever is shorter.
NOTE - This type of product is the same as that covered by IS0 4014 with the exception of threading up to the head and nominal length up to and
including 200 mm as popular lengths.
If, in special cases, specifications other than those listed in this International Standard are required, they should be selected from
existing International Standards, for example IS0 261, IS0 888, IS0 898-1, IS0 965-2, IS0 3566 and IS0 4759-I.

L‘ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale
d’organismes nationaux de normalisation (comités membres de I’ISO). L‘élaboration
des Normes internationales est en général confiée aux comités techniques de I‘ISO.

gouvernementales, en liaison avec l’lS0 participent également aux travaux.
Les projets de Normes internationales adoptés par les comités techniques sont soumis
aux comités membres pour approbation, avant leur acceptation comme Normes inter-
nationales par le Conseil de I‘ISO. Les Normes internationales sont approuvées confor-
mément aux procédures de I’ISO qui requièrent l’approbation de 75 % au moins des
comités membres votants.
La Norme internationale IS0 4017 a été élaborée par le comité technique ISO/TC 2,
Éiéments de fixation.
Cette deuxième édition annule et remplace la première édition (IS0 4017 : 1979) à
laquelle ont été apportées les modifications majeures suivantes :
a) la gamme des filetages a été étendue de M1,6 à M64;
200 mm;
b) la gamme des longueurs nominales a été étendue jusqu‘à
c) des filetages non préférentiels ont été ajoutés;
d) en plus de la classe de qualité 8.8, les classes de qualité 5.6 et 10.9 ont été intro-
duites;
e) pour des vis en acier inoxydable de filetage supérieur à M20 jusqu’à M39, la
classe de qualité A2-50 a été spécifiée.

La présente Norme internationale fait partie de la série complète des normes de produit IS0 traitant des éléments de fixation à entraî-
nement hexagonal. La série comprend :
a) les vis à tête hexagonale partiellement filetées (IS0 4014, IS0 4015, IS0 4016 et IS0 8765);
b) les vis à tête hexagonale entièrement filetées (IS0 4017, IS0 4018 et IS0 8676);
c) les écrous hexagonaux (IS0 4032, IS0 4033, IS0 4034, IS0 4035, IS0 4036, IS0 8673, IS0 8674 et IS0 8675);
d) les vis à tête hexagonale à embase (IS0 4162 et IS0 8102);
e) les vis à tête hexagonale à embase, entièrement filetées; l)

1 Objet et domaine d'application
La présente Norme internationale spécifie les caractéristiques des vis à tête hexagonale entièrement filetées de filetage M1,6 à M64
inclus, de grade A pour les filetages M1,6 à M24 inclus et de longueurs nominales I inférieures ou égales à 10 d ou 150 mm selon la
valeur la plus petite, et de grade B pour les filetages supérieurs à M24 ou les longueurs nominales I supérieures à 10 d ou 150 mm
selon la valeur la plus petite.
NOTE - Ce type de produit est le même que celui qui est traité dans I'ISO 4014 à l'exception du filetage jusque sous tête et de la longueur nominale
I inférieure ou égale à 200 mm en série courante.
Si, dans des cas particuliers, des spécifications autres que celles figurant dans la présente Norme internationale sont requises, il est
recommandé de les choisir dans les Normes internationales existantes, par exemple IS0 261, IS0 888, IS0 898-1, IS0 965-2,
IS0 3506, IS0 4759-1.
