This document establishes a system of designation for polyoxymethylene (POM) thermoplastic
materials, which can be used as the basis for specifications.
The types of polyoxymethylene (POM) materials are differentiated from each other by a classification
system based on appropriate levels of the following designatory properties:
a) melt mass-flow rate or melt volume-flow rate;
b) tensile modulus,
and on information about basic polymer parameters, intended application, method of processing,
important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcing materials.
This document is applicable to all polyoxymethylene homopolymers and to copolymers of
polyoxymethylene and blends of polymers containing polyoxymethylene.
It applies to materials ready for normal use in the form of powder, granules or pellets and to materials
unmodified and modified by colorants, additives, fillers, etc.
It is not intended to imply that materials having the same designation necessarily give the same
performance. This document does not provide engineering data, performance data or data on
processing conditions which can be required to specify materials for particular end-use applications. If
such additional properties are required, they are intended to be determined in accordance with the test
methods specified in the relevant International Standards.

Dieser Teil der ISO 29988 legt ein Bezeichnungssystem für Polyoxymethylen (POM) Thermoplast Werk-stoffe fest, das als Grundlage für Spezifikationen verwendet werden kann.
Polyoxymethylen Werkstoffe sind thermoplastische Werkstoffe, die grundsätzlich aus langkettigen synthetischen
Homopolymeren und Copolymeren aus Formaldehyd bestehen. Die wiederkehrende Einheit in der molekularen Kette ist — CH2O — als integraler Bestandteil der Hauptpolymerkette, entstanden aus der Polymerisation von Formaldehyd.
1.2   Die Arten der Polyoxymethylen-Kunststoffe werden mit Hilfe eines Einteilungssystems voneinander unterschieden, das auf geeigneten Wertebereichen der folgenden kennzeichnenden Eigenschaften
a)   Schmelze Massefließrate oder Schmelze Volumenfließrate,
b)   Zugelastizitätsmodul
und auf Angaben über die grundlegenden Polymerparameter, die vorgesehene Anwendung, das Verarbeitungsverfahren, wichtige Eigenschaften, Zusatzstoffe, Farbstoffe, Füll  und Verstärkungsstoffe beruht.
1.3   Dieser Teil der ISO 29988 ist für alle Polyoxymethylen-Homopolymere und auf Copolymere von Polyoxymethylen und Mischungen von Polymeren, die Polyoxymethylen enthalten, anwendbar.
Er gilt für gebrauchsfertige Werkstoffe in Form von Pulver, Granulat oder Pellets und für unmodifizierte oder mit Farbstoffen, Zusatzstoffen und Füllstoffen, etc. modifizierte Werkstoffe.
1.4   Es soll nicht impliziert werden, dass Werkstoffe mit gleicher Bezeichnung notwendigerweise das gleiche Leistungsverhalten aufweisen. Dieser Teil der ISO 29988 enthält keine technischen Daten, Leistungsangaben oder Verarbeitungsbedingungen, die ggf. zur Spezifikation eines Werkstoffs für bestimmte Endanwendungen erforderlich sind.
Wenn derartige zusätzliche Eigenschaften gefragt sind, müssen sie in Übereinstimmung mit den Prüfverfahren aus Teil 2 dieser Internationalen Norm festgelegt werden.
1.5   Um ein thermoplastisches Material für eine bestimmte Anwendung zu spezifizieren oder um reproduzierbare Verarbeitung sicherzustellen, können im Daten Block 5 zusätzliche Anforderungen angegeben werden (siehe 3.1).

L'ISO 29988-1:2018 établit un système de désignation des matériaux thermoplastiques à base de polyoxyméthylène (POM) qui peut être utilisé comme base pour les spécifications.
Les types de matériaux à base de polyoxyméthylène (POM) sont différenciés les uns des autres par un système de classification basé sur les niveaux appropriés des propriétés de désignation suivantes:
a) indice de fluidité à chaud en masse ou indice de fluidité à chaud en volume;
b) module en traction; et sur des informations concernant les paramètres relatifs au polymère de base, l'application prévue, la méthode de mise en ?uvre, les propriétés importantes, les additifs, les colorants, les charges et les matériaux de renfort.
L'ISO 29988-1:2018 est applicable à tous les homopolymères du polyoxyméthylène ainsi qu'aux copolymères du polyoxyméthylène et aux mélanges de polymères contenant du polyoxyméthylène.
L'ISO 29988-1:2018 s'applique aux matériaux prêts à l'emploi dans le cadre d'une utilisation normale sous la forme de poudre, granulés ou grains et aux matériaux non modifiés ou modifiés par des colorants, additifs, charges, etc.
Le fait que des matériaux aient la même désignation n'implique pas qu'ils présentent nécessairement les mêmes performances. Le présent document ne comporte pas de données sur la conception, les performances ou les conditions de mise en ?uvre qui peuvent être exigées pour spécifier des matériaux pour une application finale particulière. Si de telles caractéristiques supplémentaires sont nécessaires, elles sont censées être déterminées conformément aux méthodes d'essai spécifiées dans les Normes Internationales pertinentes.

Ta dokument določa sistem označevanja termoplastičnih materialov na osnovi polioksimetilena (POM), ki ga je mogoče uporabiti kot podlago za specifikacije.
Vrste materialov na osnovi polioksimetilena (POM) se med seboj ločujejo glede na sistem razvrščanja, ki temelji na ustreznih ravneh naslednjih označevalnih lastnosti:

b) nateznih modulih,
ter na informacijah o parametrih osnovnega polimera, nameravani uporabi, metodi obdelave, pomembnih lastnostih, aditivih, barvilih, polnilih in materialih za ojačanje.
Ta dokument se uporablja za vse homopolimere na osnovi polioksimetilena ter za kopolimere na osnovi polioksimetilena in mešanice polimerov, ki vsebujejo polioksimetilen.
Uporablja se za materiale v obliki praška, granul ali peletov, pripravljene za običajno uporabo, in materiale, nespremenjene ali spremenjene z barvili, aditivi, polnili itd.

Introduction
Polyoxymethylene materials are thermoplastic materials composed principally of long-chain synthetic
homopolymers and copolymers of formaldehyde. The repeating unit in the molecular chain is – CH O –
2
as an integral part of the main polymer chain resulting from polymerization of formaldehyde.
