This International Standard describes methods for determining side lengths, straightness of edges, and squareness of resilient floor tiles.
The side lengths, straightness and squareness of resilient floor tile are important considerations because installed flooring will have an objectionable appearance if these performance criteria are not followed. This may cause the installed tiles to line up unevenly, producing unsightly seams and corners that do not match.

Die vorliegende Internationale Norm beschreibt Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Kantenlängen, Kanten¬geradheit und Rechtwinkligkeit von elastischen oder textilen Bodenplatten.
Die Kanten¬längen, Geradheit und Rechtwinkligkeit elastischer oder textiler Bodenplatten sind wichtige Faktoren, denn ein verlegter Bodenbelag weist ein unzulässiges Erscheinungsbild auf, wenn diese Leistungs-kriterien nicht eingehalten werden. Das kann dazu führen, dass die verlegten Platten uneben ausgerichtet sind und dabei unansehnliche Nähte und Kanten ausbilden, die nicht aneinanderpassen.

The text of ISO 24342:2007 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 219 “Floor coverings” of the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 24342:2012 by
Technical Committee CEN/TC 134 “Resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings” the secretariat of which is
held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by July 2012, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the
latest by July 2012.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 427:1994.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.

ISO 24342 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 219, Floor coverings.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 24342:2006), of which it constitutes a minor
revision, with a view to include textile floor coverings in the scope. It also cancels and replaces
ISO 13747:1999.
