This standard specifies the characteristics of adjustable rod ends with self-aligning double row ball bearing in corrosion resisting steel with reduced internal radial clearance and threaded shank in titanium alloy, designed to withstand only slow rotations and oscillations under load. They consist of: - a rod end comprising: - circumferential groove to identify location; - either seals or shields; - an optional longitudinal groove for locking purpose; - an inner ring with balls. These rod ends are intended for use with flight control rods or rods for aerospace structures. They are intended to be used in the temperature range: - 54 °C to 150 °C. However, being lubricated with the following greases: - very high pressure grease, ester type (code A), operational range - 73 °C to 121 °C or - very high pressure grease, synthetic hydrocarbons, general purpose (code B), operational range - 54 °C to 177 °C (see EN 2067), their field of application when lubricated with code A grease is limited to 121 °C.

Diese Norm legt die Eigenschaften von einstellbaren Ösenköpfen mit zweireihigem Pendelkugellager aus korrosionsbeständigem Stahl, mit reduzierter radialer Lagerluft und Gewindeschaft aus Titanlegierung fest, die so ausgelegt sind, dass sie unter Belastung nur langsamen Dreh- und Kippbewegungen standhalten.
Sie bestehen aus:
- einem Ösenkopf, der:
- mit einer Ringnut zur Kontrolle der Einschraubtiefe versehen ist;
- mit Dicht- oder Deckscheiben ausgerüstet ist;
- eine Längsnut zur Sicherung aufweisen kann;
- einem Innenring mit Kugeln.
Diese Ösenköpfe sind für Bediengestänge für Flugsteuerungen oder für Strukturstangen von Luftfahrzeugen bestimmt.
Sie sind für den Einsatz im Temperaturbereich von - 54 °C bis 150 °C bestimmt.
Da sie jedoch mit folgenden Fetten geschmiert werden:
- Hochdruckfett auf Esterbasis (Kennbuchstabe A); Betriebstemperaturbereich - 73 °C bis 121 °C oder
- Hochdruckfett auf der Basis von synthetischen Kohlenwasserstoffen zur allgemeinen Verwendung (Kennbuchstabe B), Betriebstemperaturbereich - 54 °C bis 177 °C (nach EN 2067),
ist ihr Anwendungsbereich bei Schmierung mit Fett mit dem Kennbuchstaben A auf 121 °C eingeschränkt.
