Safety of woodworking machines - Circular sawing machines - Part 6: Circular sawing machines for firewood and dual purpose circular sawing machines for firewood/circular saw benches, with manual loading and/or unloading

This European Standard specifies the requirements and/or the measures to remove the hazards and limit the risk on circular sawbenches/up-cutting cross-cut sawing machines, hereinafter referred to as "machines", designed to cut solid wood, chipboard, fibreboard, plywood and also these materials where they are covered with plastic edging and/or plastic/light alloy laminates.
This European Standard does not apply to :
¾ hand held woodworking machines or any adaptation permitting their use in a different mode, i.e. bench mounting;
¾ machines set up on a bench or a table similar to a bench, which is intended to carry out work in a stationary position, capable of being lifted by one person by hand.
This European Standard covers the hazards relevant to these machines as stated in clause 4.
For Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines this European Standard does not cover hazards related to Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC).
This European Standard is primarily directed at machines which are manufactured after the date of issue of this European Standard.
NOTE   Circular sawbenches are dealt with in EN 1870-1:1999

Sicherheit von Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen - Kreissägemaschinen - Teil 6: Brennholzkreissägemaschinen und kombinierte Brennholz- und Tischkreissägemaschinen, mit Handbeschickung und/oder Handentnahme

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen und/oder Maßnahmen für die Beseitigung von Gefähr-dungen und zur Begrenzung der Risiken an kombinierten Tischkreissägemaschinen/von unten schneidenden Kappsägemaschinen fest, im folgenden als "Maschinen" bezeichnet, die konstruiert sind zum Schneiden von Massivholz, Spanplatten, Faserplatten oder Sperrholz, sowie diesen Werkstoffen, wenn sie mit Kunststoffkanten versehen und/oder Beschichtungen aus Kunststoff/Leichtmetall-Legierung haben.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für:
¾ handgeführte Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen einschließlich solcher Einrichtungen, die ihre Verwendung in einer anderen Weise z.B. in einer Stationäreinrichtung ermöglichen;
¾ Maschinen, die auf ein Gestell oder auf einen Tisch, der einem Gestell ähnlich ist, aufgesetzt sind und die vorgesehen sind, während des Betriebs stationär verwendet zu werden und die von Hand von einer Person angehoben werden können.
Diese Europäische Norm behandelt die von der Maschine ausgehenden Gefährdungen, wie sie in Abschnitt 4 aufgelistet sind.
Diese Europäische Norm behandelt bei CNC-Maschinen nicht die Gefährdungen im Zusammenhang mit der elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit (EMV).
Diese Europäische Norm ist in erster Linie auf Maschinen anzuwenden, die nach dem Datum der Herausgabe dieser Europäischen Norm hergestellt werden.
ANMERKUNG     Tischkreissägemaschinen werden in EN 1870-1:1999 behandelt

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les prescriptions et/ou les mesures destinées à éliminer les phénomènes dangereux et limiter les risques sur les scies circulaires combinées à table et à coupe transversale ascendante (ci-après dénommées "machines"), conçues pour la coupe de bois massif, de panneaux de particules, et de fibres, de contre-plaqué, ainsi que ces matériaux lorsque leurs surfaces ou leurs chants sont recouverts de matière plastique et/ou de plastique/alliage léger stratifié.
La présente Norme européenne ne s'applique pas aux :
¾ machines à bois portatives ou toute adaptation permettant leur utilisation de manière différente, c'est-à-dire fixées sur un établi;
¾ machines installée sur un établi ou une table similaire à un établi, destinées à exécuter des travaux dans une position fixe, pouvant être soulevées à la main par une personne.
La présente Norme européenne couvre les phénomènes dangereux applicables à ces machines dont une liste est donnée à l'article 4.
Pour les machines à commande numérique la présente Norme européenne ne traite pas des phénomènes dangereux liés à la compatibilité électromagnétique (CEM).
La présente Norme européenne est applicable avant tout aux machines fabriquées après la date de publication de la présente Norme européenne.
NOTE    Les scies circulaires à table sont traitées dans l'EN 1870-1:1999.

i) aluminium light alloy plates with a maximum thickness of 10 mm;

—    the machining of panels with milling tools for grooving;
—    powered unloading of panels;

ISO 19085-10:2018 deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events as listed in Clause 4, relevant to the machines, when operated, adjusted and maintained as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer including reasonably foreseeable misuse. Also, transport, assembly, dismantling, disabling and scrapping phases have been taken into account.
NOTE 2    For relevant but not significant hazards, e.g. sharp edges of the machine frame, see ISO 12100:2010.
The machine can also be fitted with a device for the saw blade to be manually raised and lowered through the table, whose hazards have been dealt with.
This document does not apply to the following:
a)    machines with a maximum saw blade diameter smaller than 350 mm or greater than 500 mm;
b)    hand-held woodworking machines, including any adaptation permitting their use in a different mode, i.e. bench mounting;
c)    machines with a device to tilt the saw blade for angle cutting, machines with more than one saw blade rotational speed and machines equipped with a sliding table;

This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events as listed in Clause 4 which are relevant to circular sawing machines for firewood with manual loading and/or unloading with hand operated carriage, hereinafter referred to as "machines", designed to cut solid wood when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer including reasonably foreseeable misuse.
This European Standard is not applicable to:
a)   combined circular sawing machines for firewood with additional units, i.e. log splitting units or circular saw bench units;
NOTE 1   Circular saw benches are dealt with in EN 1870-19:2013.

This European Standard specifies all significant hazards, hazardous situation and events as listed in Clause 4, relevant to stationary and displaceable manual horizontal cutting cross-cut circular sawing machines with one saw unit (manual radial arm saws), hereinafter referred to as "machines", designed to cut solid wood, chipboard, fibreboard, plywood and also these materials if they are covered with plastic edging and/or plastic laminates, when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer including reasonably foreseeable misuse.
NOTE 1   For the definition of stationary and displaceable machine, see 3.2.3 and 3.2.4.
The requirements of this document apply to all machines whatever their method of control e.g. electromechanical and/or electronic.
This document does not apply to:
a)   machines set up on a bench or a table similar to a bench, which are intended to carry out work in a stationary position, capable of being lifted by one person by hand; the bench can also be an integrated part of the machine if it consists of hinged legs which can be extended down;
NOTE 2   Transportable motor-operated electrical tools are dealt with in EN 61029-1:2009 together with
IEC 61029-2-2:1993.
b)   machines fitted with hydraulically powered machine actuators;
c)   machines fitted with powered work-piece positioning;
d)   machines fitted with the facility for either ripping, milling (including trenching and grooving), sanding and/or drilling;
e)   machines equipped with more than one saw spindle speed;
NOTE 3   A standard to cover machines that can be used for ripping and moulding will be considered at the next revision.
NOTE 4   Semi-automatic and automatic horizontal cutting cross-cut circular sawing machines with one saw unit (radial arm saws) are dealt with in EN 1870-11:2003+A1:2009.
f)   machines with integrated feed.
