Industrial valves - Marking of metallic valves

This document specifies the requirements for marking of industrial metallic valves. It defines the method of applying the markings, on the body, on a flange, on an identification plate or any other location.
When specified as a normative reference in a valve product or performance standard, this document is considered in conjunction with the specified requirements of that valve product or performance standard.
The marking requirements for plastic valves are not within the scope of this document.

This draft amendment is submitted to CEN members for enquiry. It has been drawn up by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 69.

This draft amendment A1, if approved, will modify the European Standard EN 19:2023. If this draft becomes an amendment, CEN
members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for inclusion of this
amendment into the relevant national standard without any alteration.

This draft amendment was established by CEN in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other
language made by translation under the responsibility of a CEN member into its own language and notified to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre has the same status as the official versions.

This document is currently submitted to the CEN Enquiry.
This document has been prepared under a standardization request addressed to CEN by the European
Commission. The Standing Committee of the EFTA States subsequently approves these requests for its
Member States.

Replace the text in 4.1.1 with the following text:
“Every industrial metallic valve shall be provided with integral markings, firmly attached marking plate
and identification plate, as applicable.
For industrial metallic valves that meet the requirements of the European legislation the marking shall
conform to the requirements of the European pressure equipment legislation.
For industrial metallic valves that do not meet the requirements of the European legislation for pressure
equipment or are exempt from conformity, any marking requirements in the applicable valve product
standard shall be complied with.
Annex B provides marking requirements examples.”
Replace the text in 4.1.3 and 4.1.4 with the following text:
