Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety -- Part 2-2: Particular requirements for vacuum cleaners and water-suction cleaning appliances

This international standard deals with the safety of electric vacuum cleaners and watersuction cleaning appliances for household and similar purposes, including vacuum cleaners for animal grooming. Ther rated voltage being not more than 250 V. It also applies to  centally-sited vacuum cleaners. This standard also applies to motorized cleaning heads and current-carrying hoses associated with a particular vacuum cleaner.

Ta mednarodni standard obravnava varnost električnih sesalnikov prahu in aparatov za čiščenje s sesanjem vode za gospodinjsko in podobno uporabo, vključno s sesalniki za nego živali. Nazivna napetost ne presega 250 V. Prav tako velja za osrednje postavljene sesalnike prahu. Ta standard prav tako velja za motorizirane čistilne glave in cevi za prenašanje toka, povezane z določenim sesalnikom.

This amendment A2 modifies the European Standard EN 60335-2-2:2003; it was approved by CENELEC on
2006-10-01. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.

Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENELEC member.

This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the
Central Secretariat has the same status as the official versions.

Foreword
The text of document 61/3056/FDIS, future amendment 2 to IEC 60335-2-2:2002, prepared by the IEC
Technical Committee 61, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances, was submitted to the
IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as amendment A2 to
EN 60335-2-2:2003 on 2006-10-01 with a common modification maintaining the coherence with
Clause 6 of EN 60335-1:2002.
The following dates are applicable:
– latest date by which the amendment has to be
implemented at national level by publication of
an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2007-07-01
– date on which national standards conflicting
with the amendment have to be withdrawn (dow) 2009-10-01
This amendment supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of EN 60335-2-2:2003.

Add to the last sentence of the first paragraph:
“and automatic battery-powered cleaners”.
3 Definitions
3.1.9 Add the following text:
Automatic battery-powered cleaners are operated with a clean dust bag or filter on the
carpet defined in IEC 60312, a frame of 1,5 m by 1,5 m is used on the carpet to limit the area
of action. The air inlet is unobstructed.
Add the following new definitions:
3.104
automatic battery-powered cleaner
an automatic vacuum cleaner that operates without human control only within a defined
perimeter, within a pre-programmed area or in an area self controlled by the appliance.
The cleaner consists of the mobile part and may have a docking station

docking station
unit that may provide
