Unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) profiles for the fabrication of windows and doors - Classification, requirements and test methods - Part 1: Non-coated PVC-U profiles with light coloured surfaces
This part of EN 12608 specifies the classifications, requirements and test methods for non-coated unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) profiles with light coloured surfaces intended to be used for the fabrication of windows and doors.
It is applicable to PVC-U profiles with the colorimetric co-ordinates measured on the visible surfaces, as follows:
- L * 82 (chromaticity co-ordinate Y 60)
- -2,5 a* 5
- -5 b* 15
when determined in accordance to ISO 7724-1 [1], ISO 7724-2 [2] and ISO 7724-3 [3], using CIE Standard illuminant D65 including specular reflectance and measuring condition 8/d or d/8 (without gloss trap for both), the angle of observation being selected as either 2° or 10° according to ISO 7724 1.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Klassifizierungen, Anforderungen an und Prüfverfahren für nicht beschichtete, helle Profile aus weichmacherfreiem Polyvinylchlorid (PVC U) zur Herstellung von Fenstern und Türen fest.
Diese Norm gilt für PVC U-Profile mit den folgenden Farbmaßzahlen, die auf sichtbaren Oberflächen gemessen wurden:
L* 82 (Farbwertkoordinate Y 60),
2,5 a* 5,
5 b* 15,
bei Bestimmung nach ISO 7724 1, ISO 7724 2 und ISO 7724 3 unter Anwendung der CIE-Normlichtart D65 unter Glanzeinschluss und der Messbedingung 8/d oder d/8 (in beiden Fällen ohne Glanzfalle); der gewählte Betrachtungswinkel beträgt nach ISO 7724 1 entweder 2° oder 10°.

Il s’applique aux profilés en PVC U dont les coordonnées colorimétriques mesurées sur les surfaces visibles sont les suivantes :

Ta del standarda EN 12608 določa razvrščanje, zahteve in preskusne metode za neprevlečene profile iz trdega polivinilklorida (PVC-U) s svetlo površino, ki so namenjeni za uporabo pri izdelavi oken in vrat. Uporablja se za profile iz trdega polivinilklorida s kolorimetričnimi koordinatami, izmerjenimi na vidni površini, kot je opisano v nadaljevanju: – L * 82 (kromatska koordinata Y 60) – –2,5 a* 5 – –5 b* 15 v skladu s standardi ISO 7724-1 [1], ISO 7724-2 [2] in ISO 7724-3 [3] ob uporabi standarda za vrsto svetlobe CIE D65, vključno z refleksijsko odbojnostjo in pogojem meritve 8/d ali d/8 (brez zadrževanja sijaja pri obeh), pri čemer je izbran 2-stopinjski ali 10-stopinjski vidni kot v skladu s standardom ISO 7724 1.

EN 12608-1:2016 (E) 4 European foreword This document (EN 12608-1:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 33 “Doors, windows, shutters, building hardware and curtain walling”, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2016, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by March 2017. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. EN 12608-1:2016 (E) 10 3.4.5 own reprocessed material material prepared from defined formulations, free of degradation, prepared from pre-consumer PVC-U profiles in conformance with this part of EN 12608, including mis-measured/unused windows and off-cuts, from window assembling manufacturers, that will be reprocessed by the same manufacturer from which it was previously extruded Note 1 to entry: Profiles produced with an own reprocessed material of the same formulation show the same performance as those made of virgin material. 3.4.6 External reprocessed material 3.4.6.1 ERMa material whose characteristics (excluding colour) are in conformance with this part of EN 12608, prepared from pre-consumer PVC-U profiles including off-cuts, which has been originally produced by other manufacturers than those carrying out the reprocessing 3.4.6.2 ERMb material prepared from pre-consumer PVC-U profiles, regardless of where they were originally manufactured (e.g. glazing beads with PVC coextrusion/gaskets, coated profiles) 3.4.7 recycled material 3.4.7.1 RMa material prepared from post-consumer PVC-U product, regardless of where they were originally manufactured (e.g. glazing beads with PVC coextrusion/gaskets, coated profiles) 3.4.7.2 RMb any material which is not defined in 3.4.3 to 3.4.7.1 4 Classifications 4.1 General In EN 12608-1 various aspects of performance are classified. The selection of appropriate classes necessary to fulfil national requirements may be given in a national foreword of EN 12608-1. 4.2 Classification of climatic zones For the purposes of this document, geographical Europe is divided in two climatic zones M (moderate climate) and S (severe climate) as defined in Table 1. Profiles which are designed to be used in a severe climate (S) may also be used in a moderate climate (M). In those countries where the two climatic zones exists, care should be taken that profiles designed for a moderate climate (M) are not used in the severe climate (S). 4.3 Classification of main profiles according to the resistance to impact by falling mass For the resistance to impact by falling mass at –10 °C, the main profiles shall be classified according to Table 2. The classification of main profiles according to the wall thickness is intended to represent the wide variations in profile and window design for the various systems which are in use in Europe. It is not intended to imply differences in profile quality or in the performance of windows provided that the relevant performance requirements for both profiles and windows are met. In order to be classified for either class A or B both minimum requirements for the wall thickness shall be fulfilled. Sight surfaces of typical profiles are shown in Figure 1. SIST EN 12608-1:2016
EN 12608-1:2016 (E) 13 5 Requirements 5.1 Material 5.1.1 UV resistant virgin material The UV resistant virgin material shall comply with the requirements given in Annex A and 5.9. 5.1.2 Non-UV resistant virgin material It is permitted to use a non-UV resistant virgin material when the coextruded visible surfaces of the profile are made from a UV resistant virgin material or an own reprocessed material. The non-UV resistant virgin material shall comply with the requirements given in Annex A. 5.1.3 Reprocessed, recycled materials and non-UV resistant virgin materials If the material used is not a UV resistant virgin material according to 5.1.1, the requirements of this document apply together with the following: a) the use of reprocessed, recycled and non UV resistant materials shall conform to Table 4; b) materials of types ERMa, ERMb or RMa may be used after any necessary re-stabilization and/or addition of additives (e.g. modifiers, pigments, lubricants) for the core of a profile, where any visible surfaces of the window are completely covered by coextrusion with a virgin material or an own reprocessed material; c) for sight surfaces, the minimum value of thickness of the coextruded surface layer shall be 0,5 mm; d) for non-sight visible surfaces the minimum thickness of the coextruded surface layer shall be 0,2 mm; e) no requirement for minimum thickness of the coextruded surface layer at the bottom of grooves with an open width
