Laminate floor coverings - Elements with acrylic based surface layer, electron beam cured - Specifications, requirements and test methods

This European Standard specifies requirements for laminate floor coverings as defined in 3.1.
It includes a classification system based on EN ISO 10874, giving practical requirements for areas of use and levels of use, to indicate where laminate floor coverings will give satisfactory service and to encourage the consumer to make an informed choice. It also specifies requirements for marking and packaging.
Laminate floor coverings are considered for domestic and commercial levels of use, e.g. for use in domestic kitchens. This standard does not specify requirements related to areas that are subject to frequent wetting, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms or saunas.

Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an Laminatböden fest, wie in 3.1 definiert.
Sie enthält ein Klassifizierungssystem, das auf EN ISO 10874 basiert, mit praktischen Anforderungen für bestimmte Verwendungsbereiche und Beanspruchungsklassen. Dies dient dazu aufzuzeigen, in welchen Bereichen Laminatböden zufriedenstellend eingesetzt werden können, sowie dazu, den Verbraucher in die Lage zu versetzen, informiert eine Auswahl zu treffen. Sie legt ebenfalls Anforderungen an Kennzeichnung und Verpackung fest.
Für Laminatböden werden die Anwendungsgebiete „Wohnen“ und „Gewerblich“ berücksichtigt, z. B. für die Verwendung in Küchen im Wohnbereich. Diese Norm legt keine Anforderungen für Bereiche fest, die regelmäßig Nässe ausgesetzt sind wie etwa Badezimmer, Hauswirtschaftsräume oder Saunen.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie des exigences relatives aux revêtements de sol stratifiés tels que définis au 3.1.
Elle comporte un système de classification fondé sur l’EN ISO 10874, qui donne les exigences pratiques relatives aux zones et niveaux d’utilisation, afin d’indiquer les cas où les revêtements de sol stratifiés peuvent être utilisés de manière satisfaisante et ainsi aider le consommateur à faire un choix en toute connaissance de cause. Elle spécifie également les exigences relatives au marquage et à l'emballage.
Les revêtements de sol stratifiés sont destinés à des usages domestiques et commerciaux, par exemple destinés à être utilisés dans une cuisine domestique. Néanmoins, la présente norme ne spécifie pas d'exigences relatives aux lieux soumis à une humidification fréquente, comme les salles de bain, les buanderies et les saunas.

Ta evropski standard določa zahteve za laminatne talne obloge, kot je določeno v točki 3.1.
Vključuje sistem razvrščanja na podlagi standarda EN ISO 10874 ter podaja praktične zahteve za območja in ravni uporabe z namenom opredelitve področij zadovoljive uporabe laminatnih talnih oblog ter spodbude potrošnikov k sprejemanju utemeljenih odločitev. Določa tudi zahteve za označevanje in pakiranje.
Laminatne talne obloge so primerne za gospodinjsko in komercialno uporabo, npr. v kuhinjah v gospodinjstvih. Ta standard ne določa zahtev v zvezi z območji, ki se lahko zmočijo (npr. kopalnice, pralnice ali savne).

EN 14978:2016 (E) 3 European foreword This document (EN 14978:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 134 “Resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings”, the secretariat of which is held by NBN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2016, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2016. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. This document supersedes EN 14978:2006. Compared to EN 14978:2006 the following changes have been made: a) general definition for laminate floor coverings included; b) defined underlay for impact resistance test with the large diameter ball added; c) requirements for castor chair test changed; d) requirements for level of use 32 and 33 for floor coverings with a high gloss level added; e) test method and requirements for abrasion resistance for floor coverings with a high gloss level changed; f) requirements for cigarette resistance deleted; g) technical characteristic micro-scratch resistance added. It includes a classification system based on EN ISO 10874, giving practical requirements for areas of use and levels of use, to indicate where laminate floor coverings will give satisfactory service and to encourage the consumer to make an informed choice. This document (prEN 14978:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 134 “Resilient, textile
and laminate floor coverings”, the secretariat of which is held by NBN.
This document is currently submitted to the CEN Enquiry.
This document will supersede EN 14978:2006.
Compared to EN 14978:2006 the following changes have been made.
a) General definition for laminate floor coverings included.
b) Defined foam for a system test for impact resistance with the big ball and castor chair resistance added
c) Requirements for level of use 32 and 33 for floor coverings with a high gloss level added.
d) Test method and requirements for abrasion resistance for floor coverings with a high gloss level changed.
e) Requirements for cigarette resistance deleted.
f) Technical characteristic micro-scratch resistance added.
