Floor cutting-off machines - Safety
This document applies to pedestrian controlled floor sawing machines having power feed, manual feed or hand feed (see 3.2) for sawing, grooving and milling floor surfaces made of concrete, asphalt and similar mineral building materials where the main power is supplied by electric or internal combustion prime engine. The power transmission of floor sawing machines is mechanical or hydraulic.
This document deals with all significant hazards pertinent to floor sawing machines, when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4). This document specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards.
These machines are designed for use with rotating cutting-off wheels for wet and dry cutting. These cutting-off wheels can be either a diamond cutting-off wheel or a boron nitride cutting-off wheel, according to EN 13236.
This document does not apply to:
- self-propelled ride-on floor sawing machines;
- machines moving along a rail;
- hand-held portable cutting off machines for construction materials mounted on a mobile support, to be used as floor saws;
- remote controlled machines.
This document covers electrical hazards by making reference to relevant European Standards (see 4.2).
Those hazards that are relevant for all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other equipment or machinery and that are dealt with in standards for common use are not covered by this document. Reference to pertinent standards is made where such standards are applicable and so far necessary.
In this document, floor sawing machines are called "machines", and cutting-off wheels are called "tools".
This document applies primarily to machines which are manufactured after the date of approval of the standard by CEN.
Bodentrennschleifmaschinen - Sicherheit
Dieses Dokument gilt für mitgängergeführte Bodentrennschleifmaschinen mit maschinellem Vorschub, manuellem Vorschub oder Vorschub von Hand (siehe 3.2) zum Sägen, Schleifen von Rillen und Fräsen von Bodenoberflächen aus Beton, Asphaltbitumen und ähnlichen mineralischen Baumaterialien, wobei die Hauptantriebsenergie durch einen Elektro-, oder Verbrennungsmotor zur Verfügung gestellt wird. Die Kraftübertragung bei Bodentrennschleifmaschinen ist mechanisch oder hydraulisch.
Dieses Dokument behandelt alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, die auf Bodentrennschleifmaschinen zutreffen, wenn sie bestimmungsgemäß und entsprechend den Empfehlungen des Herstellers verwendet werden (siehe Abschnitt 4). Dieses Dokument legt die entsprechenden technischen Maßnahmen fest, um die aus den signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und Gefährdungsereignissen resultierenden Risiken zu beseitigen oder zu verringern.
Diese Maschinen werden mit rotierenden Trennscheiben im Nass- und Trockenschnitt betrieben. Diese Trennscheiben können nach EN 13236 entweder eine Diamanttrennscheibe oder eine Bornitridtrennscheibe sein.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für:
- selbstfahrende Bodentrennschleifmaschinen mit aufsitzendem Bediener;
- auf Schienen verfahrenden Maschinen;
- auf einer mobilen Tragvorrichtung montierte handgeführte, tragbare Trennschleifmaschinen für Baumaterialien, die als Bodensägen verwendet werden;
- ferngesteuerte Maschinen.
Dieses Dokument behandelt elektrische Gefährdungen durch Verweis auf relevante Europäische Normen (siehe 4.2).
Die Gefährdungen, die für alle mechanischen, elektrischen, hydraulischen und andere Einrichtungen von Maschinen relevant sind und in entsprechenden allgemeinen Normen behandelt werden, umfasst dieses Dokument nicht. Soweit erforderlich, wird auf anwendbare Normen dieser Art verwiesen.
In diesem Dokument werden Bodentrennschleifmaschinen als „Maschinen“ bezeichnet und Trennschleifscheiben werden auch als „Werkzeuge“ bezeichnet.
Dieses Dokument gilt hauptsächlich für Maschinen, die nach dem Datum der Zustimmung durch CEN zu dieser Norm hergestellt wurden.

Le présent document s’applique aux machines de chantier à scier, rainurer et meuler les sols en béton, asphalte bitumineux et matériaux similaires à conducteur accompagnant à avance automatique, poussées ou manuelles (voir 3.2), pour lesquelles l'énergie principale est fournie par un moteur électrique ou thermique. La transmission de l’énergie des scies à sol est mécanique ou hydraulique.
Le présent document traite de tous les phénomènes dangereux significatifs spécifiques aux machines à scier les sols lorsqu'elles sont utilisées normalement et dans les conditions prévues par le fabricant (voir Article 4 ). Le présent document spécifie les mesures techniques appropriées pour éliminer ou réduire les risques dus aux phénomènes dangereux significatifs.
Ces machines sont conçues pour être utilisées avec des disques à tronçonner par arrosage ou à sec. Ces disques à tronçonner peuvent être soit des meules à tronçonner soit des disques à tronçonner à base de diamant ou de nitrure de bore, selon l’EN 13236.
Le présent document ne s’applique pas aux:
- machines à scier les sols automotrices à conducteur porté;
- les machines mobiles sur un rail;
- les machines portatives à tronçonner les matériaux montées sur un support mobile pour être utilisées en scies à sols;
- machines commandées à distance.
Le présent documentcouvre les risques d'origine électrique par référence aux normes européennes pertinentes (voir 4.2).
Les phénomènes dangereux qui sont spécifiques aux équipements de machine, mécaniques, électriques, hydrauliques, pneumatiques et autres, et qui sont traités dans les normes générales ne sont pas couverts dans Le présent document. This document is a type-C standard as stated in EN ISO 12100.
This document is of relevance, in particular, for the following stakeholder groups representing the market
players with regard to machinery safety:— machine manufacturers (small, medium and large enterprises);
— health and safety bodies (regulators, accident prevention organizations, market surveillance etc.).
Others can be affected by the level of machinery safety achieved with the means of the document by the
above-mentioned stakeholder groups:— machine users/employers (small, medium and large enterprises);
— machine users/employees (e.g. trade unions, organizations for people with special needs);
— service providers, e.g. for maintenance (small, medium and large enterprises);— consumers (in case of machinery intended for use by consumers).
The above-mentioned stakeholder groups have been given the possibility to participate in the drafting

1 Scope

floor sawing machines may be of the following types:

machine in which the feed movement is effected by the pushing action of the operator

machine in which the feed movement is effected by manual operation of a crank or wheel

machine whose feed movement is obtained by a power source via mechanical or hydraulic power

machine manufacturer without cutting-off wheel(s) and under no load3.6

4 Safety requirements and/or measures
4.1 General
Machinery shall comply with the safety requirements and/or protective/risk reduction measures of this
clause. In addition, the machine shall be designed according to the principles of EN ISO 12100:2010 for
